Wonderful
Pros: 1.

Pros: Thank you NIHAD.

An excellent resort located 500m from the Kooddoo airstrip, which is itself an hour's domestic flight from Male. The staff, the villas, the waters, snorkeling, the dive Centre and the food, are all exemplary, leaving a memory that will last your lifetime. Stayed in an over-water sunset villa and created three days of amazing memories, including two kinds of sharks peacefully gliding through the waters around, an hour of snorkeling across picturesque corals and colorful fish adjacent to a sand bank, a sunset fishing trip with simple hand lining leading to two good sized Rainbow Runners (which were released), a very relaxing coconut spa treatment and wonderful food three times a day as part of the all inclusive package. The Sri Lankan Chefs Roshan and Chameera even created some special dishes after a brief chat with them, including the best Pork curry I have ever tasted (yes, way better than Goa!). All in all, my wife and I went back rejuvenated and yearning for more, with fabulous memories created every minute of our stay there. I figured closer to the arrival date that the rates were almost half of what I had paid with advance booking directly on the Accor loyalty (ALL) app. After getting there, we figured that stays more than five days also got some good vouchers which covered activities that otherwise cost nearly USD100 each, which were missed out on due to the shorter stay. The next discovery was that there were guests who had booked through discount travel websites who had managed stays for twice the number of people and days for the same rates as we had. Third, every activity needs to be booked a day in advance, which was a total disaster for those staying lesser, as the first day went in check in etc and the next day in visiting the dive Centre, just to book for stuff the next day onwards. The resort could do way better at managing communication pre-arrival and letting guests know they could for example complete the theory part for Scuba diving, and this maximizing number of dives. A simple thing which could also increase revenues for the resort through this activity. Another opportunity area would be to provide links to the souvenir store- we luckily shopped there and didn't wait to at the international airport; that would have been a total disaster as the airport has nothing at all. Very surprised at a heavily tourism-reliant country neglecting such an easy and major revenue stream. Oh and did I mention, we didn't find one board at the airport arrival that one would expect, with "Welcome to Maldives" or such, which again would be straightforward branding for the place through photographs online by visitors! The resort had swings a few feet into the water though, which ensured it at least didn't miss out on the social media publicity. Another let-down was getting through for queries before arrival - simply tedious, and everything depended on "working hours of the reservation team", and email responses being almost non-existent until reminded on phone. But for these dismal pre-arrival experiences, I would unhesitatingly rate it a straight 5! If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't mind heading right there, armed with these useful inputs. Oh, and it is an adults only location, which meant no crying kids or scampering youngsters - a good change, to be honest, when one is traveling without them or, has grown up kids! PS: On the local flight try and avoid seats 1E and 1F, as these are the only ones in the 2-2 plan without a window and facing the back! And do not miss booking the window seat if you traveling solo - you will thank me later!

From the moment we arrived in Malé we were greeted by the friendly Mercure staff member who took us to the luxurious lounge while we waited for our flight to Kooddoo. And then when we arrived on Kooddoo we were also welcomed by the Mercure staff who were very accomodating and made our check in seamless. The first time we walked into our rooms we were amazed with how beautiful the view was but also how stunning the setup of the villa was, and also how functional it was having an outdoor shower (great touch!) after swimming in the ocean or the pool. We loved the buffets and the different cuisines on offer, and the cooking demos demonstrated how easy and delicious some of the dishes were to make (shout out to Chef Kapila and his team!). We also fell in love with the food, wine, and location of the Vista Restaurant. It's like a hidden gem (hidden in plain sight) and my wife and I enjoyed kicking on with some cocktails and beers upstairs while playing pool and darts. The program and activities on offer were great as well, and we loved the variety of cooking demos and fitness activities. Dahli is a great instructor in every class she hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed challending ourselves with a bit of aqua yoga! The movie night under the stars on Sunday was also one of our favourites (great movie choice as well), but we do wish there was at least one more movie night throughout the week. Our check out was also quite seamless as we spent the afternoon upstairs at the Vista while we waited and were able to still use the toilet and shower facilities before flying out, which we really appreciated! Our overall experience was made extra special thanks to the super accomodating, welcoming, and friendly staff across the resort. Every staff member we came across, whether they were working in the restaurants or pool bar, cleaners, groundskeepers, engineers, they always had a smile on their face and always went out of their way to help us and make our stay extra special!

Our stay at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo was amazing. There was great service throughout and everyone in the service team was really helpful, friendly and patient. The views were also really beautiful. They also provide free activities and benefits if you stay longer, for ex., snorkelling trips and sunset fishing. We couldn't ask for more! It was an all-inclusive experience and it was totally worth every penny. Food and drinks were plentiful and there was so much variety. We were full and satisfied after every meal. We really enjoyed the beach, the water was so blue and clear. Transfers to and from the hotel were smooth and stress-free. They even helped us find our way at the airport. We had a wonderful honeymoon here ❤ We will come again with family and friends!

My wife and I just got back from a 11 night at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo, and we had such an excellent and relaxing stay. We highly recommend this property to anyone who is hoping for that picture perfect Maldives experience. The delicious food at the restaurant, unlimited drinks, and excellent amenities and excursion options, this place has it all! We thoroughly enjoy the snorkeling every day - lots to see, special dinners at the Italian restaurant, fabulous poolside service. Special applaud to the staff, all of whom really went the extra mile. Thank you most enjoyable holiday.

The staff are also all so friendly and accomodating! Nothing is a bother to them! We were blown away by Bawantha's epic room service also, he made up our rooms everyday to the highest quality. He also created beautiful displays with local flowers to write messages, which we loved!! Special shout out to Tari at the spa who does the best massages! Thank you so much!!! The resort is a piece of paradise. There are no words to describe how beautiful the resort and the people are at Mercure Kooddoo. The rooms were lovely; we had a sunset overwater villa with pool. It was perfection. You’ll never see clearer water. Swam and snorkels right off our room. The front desk (Ella) was so helpful and friendly. Everyone at the restaurant (especially Anu-pastry chef, Jo-Ann, and Sabitria (I forgot the spelling) were so friendly. The food was amazing, especially the desserts and freshly made breads. One night, during the outdoor bbq, it started to rain and the staff moved everything inside in a matter of minutes. The dive staff was amazing , including Agus and Alina. My husband took 7 awesome dives with their top notch staff. Sharks, fish galore, turtles. Absolutely beautiful. We snorkeled, kayaked, went on the dolphin cruise (so many!!) and sunset fishing excursions. I had 2 massages from Tani (run, don’t walk and book her; it was heaven). I’m sure I’m missing people (amazing bar staff, DJ, and room attendants)-all top notch. We lacked for nothing during our stay. I cannot say enough about the resort!! It was a slice of paradise.

The staff are all very polite, extremely nice and will go out of their way to help you. We have been wanting to spend time on an island in the Maldives for over 30 years and this year in Nov/December we finally made it. We spent 7 nights there and every one of those days and nights was fantastic. The resort is top class and our Ocean Villa, 212, had everything we could ask for. The bed was so comfortable as were the pillows, the bathroom was fabulous together with the second shower and bath which were outside. The veranda had two chairs and a table and down the steps on the sand were two very comfortable lounges. The food was a highlight. The breakfasts were so delicious that we often skipped lunch even though it was part of our package. The dinners at night, buffet in Alita and Italian in Vista were also delicious. I am not a dessert eater but I could not resist the wonderful selection on offer each evening. The chefs are to be congratulated on providing such excellent food. The entire resort is quite small as it only has 70 villas which makes for the friendly atmosphere and it is Adult only. The staff are so attentive and happy and only want to please every guest. We would return in an instant if only it wasn't so far from Australia as we needed three flights to get there and the final flight often requires a long wait. eg. ours was four hours.

Was expected to tip and wasn't aware that was the case due to it being an all inclusive resort. We would order beverages of all sorts and wouldn't receive them so we'd have to order them again. They changed our flight and didn't tell us. So we woke up at 3:30am to get our bags ready and noticed a paper under the door, and we're moved to a later flight without notice. Then no one came to collect our luggage at a later time, so we walked our luggage to the front desk where they then pretty much forgot about us and we had to go ask them about our check in at the airport. There were a few times where they expected us to tip as well. And the food at times was cold and dry and under cooked. And they said they would replenish the mini bar yet the mini bar was not a real mini bar was a few snacks and wasn't topped up daily. A lot of money spent on a resort and definitely wasn't worth it, the experience was average. The location was beautiful and we made the most of it. Also snorkelling gear was just standard doesn't fit every sized face but was told that's every resort. Others who tipped had drinks and stuff consistently flowing and we started to notice and then we'd order along with them and they'd receive their drinks and we didn't. Being treated like that wasn't nice. Some of the staff are nice regardless but there were plenty who would play favourites. We did tip but we didn't have cash so went I to the resort tip pool. Really disappointing when you pay lots of money to enjoy your honeymoon and the first couple of days were lovely. Apart from arrival waiting in Male for hours as they didn't mention the time of the flight coming in and the lounge has limited options for food and WiFi connection would reset so yoy have to reconnect each time.

The hotel is amazing, rooms are new, very well equipped. The place has a nice big swimming pool with a gorgeous view of the ocean and the sunset. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The spa offers best massages! And the resort offers a lot of activities, like snorkeling, scuba diving, dolphin cruise, kayaks, etc. Alita bufet restaurant has various food options, every night it’s a different cuisine experience. The bar staff are extremely friendly and always want to make sure you have a good time. There is a live music/DJ every evening! 😍 About the island, the place is full of nature. Gorgeous sea life, with a lot of different types of fish, grey tip sharks, turtles, manta rays, very rich coral reefs, dolphins, etc. Anything you could possibly dream of having around you in the Maldives. Definitely one of the best life experiences! In short, Mercure is a perfect place if you would like to relax but also be busy and explore or just simply have fun. A place for everyone. 10/10!!

This is an extensive review of Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort. My solo trip was December 20 -28, 2023. I booked my trip via Travelocity.com which included roundtrip airfare and transfers from Barcelona, Spain to Kooddoo for a total of $4996.04 USD as a single person. I give this resort and all that does and doesn’t come along with it a solid 3.85 stars. I have bumped up my stars to a 4 as this was the closet rating to my experience here. I do believe this resort/hotel does stand at 4ish stars and with some big changes and improvements they could possibly reach 5 stars, yet they are far from it now. First off yes, this resort looks exactly like the photos and the pictures. The stunning beauty of the Maldives is all around, and it is hard to not notice the picture-perfect water, sunrises, and sunsets every day. This resort has the added benefit of being in a beautiful place of natural wonder. Because of the strategic planning of the owners who built this property here, great job. As we all know, nature created this beautiful place and not the resort so I will not rate them on natures gift to us all. I booked an overwater sunset villa and the sunsets have been extraordinary. The room is well equipped and look like the photos. The bedding is nice and comfortable. Bathrobes are a nice touch however not high quality and could be softer and more luxurious for the price point here. The shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and lotion are high end and some of the best I have ever had at a resort. High marks for that. Some damage to existing furniture is a little off putting and it was unfortunate that even though they spray for bugs I had a very large cockroach in my bathroom one morning. It is a tropical island so at least I only saw one. The a/c is loud, and the sound is bothersome sometimes which was a little annoying to sleep. Cleaning service is good, Bawandha, my room service attendant was wonderful and I was happy to have a clean villa every day. Solid 4 stars on the room & 5 stars for my attendant. I would suggest nicer robes as well as a beach bag in the room that guests can use to carry belongings to the beach and purchase as a souvenir should they choose. As well as fixing the a/c unit so it’s not so loud. I booked this holiday to scuba dive as they have a dive center right at the resort. I arranged a 10-dive package before my arrival and Alina the dive manager was wonderful to work with over email. This packaged cost a little over $1000 USD after taxes, insurance, and service charge. Once I arrived, I met Steve and Agus the dive masters. I had the absolute pleasure of diving 10 dives with Agus and as a dive master/guide Agus is wonderful. I couldn’t ask for better dives with knowledgeable, safe, and comfortable staff. I was so lucky to be on a solo dive with Agus where we had an amazing dolphin encounter with 30-40 dolphins circling around us during our dive. It was a scuba diving memory I will never forget. 5 plus stars to Agus and the rest of the dive staff and boat crew. The overall service at the hotel is generally good however at times they can miss the mark and unfortunately even be a little off putting as I noticed some issues with other guests. A few times I would order a drink and it would never come and several times while dining I was never asked if I wanted something to drink. The biggest issue I have seen is that you must sign for all your drinks, however this is not constant as many times I never signed, and I also watched guests complain that incorrect tickets were given to them to sign. The service as an entire entity in the bar, and restaurants I would give a 4. Overall, it was good, not excellent. I believe they could improve on consistency of service and not forgetting people’s orders, as well as coming up with a better signing system so guests that are already at an all-inclusive resort don’t have to sign a ticket all the time. I have stayed at 5-star resorts where your room card is swiped and you just tip at the end of your stay. Since all the tips are split among the staff unless it is cash, I don’t see why they do not do this. People can obviously still tip cash if they like. On December 27, 2023 I had a spa service massage using one of the vouchers the resort gives for 50% off. I did the hour-long tranquility massage, and it was wonderful. Highly recommend a spa-encounter here. I found the prices comparable to the United States but do feel they are a little on the high end for this resort. So, take full advantage of the voucher they offer to make it worth a visit. 5 stars for the massage and service I had at the spa. Now for the most disappointing part of the entire resort. The food is not very good and sometimes even uneatable. This is such a huge disappointment as the food presentation is spectacular and beautiful. However, the taste not so much. It is not true that just because something looks amazing it tastes that way. From the overabundance of salt added to many items and the over or under preparation of things like risotto, carbonara and steak medallions the food is the biggest let down. The seafood buffet on Christmas Eve was not fresh and the prawns tasted off and the lobster like dirty socks, so I had to spit them out. Unfortunately, a lot of the same food is served over again on different days making it even less appealing than the day before. I personally do not feel like leftovers should be re-served at such a high-end resort. The breakfast buffet by far was the best of everyday. The specialty Italian restaurant of Vista on the resort is also a huge let down. The head resort chef did make me two different specialty items not on the menu that were good, not great but at least good. One was pork with coconut curry and the other was lobster in a bechamel sauce. The desserts are also beautiful yet often don’t taste very well. Most of the time a weird gelatin like texture is in them. One dessert served on Christmas Eve was beautiful however it smelled and tasted like you were eating the lotion from your room. The deconstructed tiramisu at Vista is pretty good and you can never go wrong with ice cream. 2.5 stars for the food. I could write an entire review on the problems with the food but the positives of this resort far outweigh the not so good food experience so I will leave it at that. My suggestion would be to serve food at proper temps, cold food should be cold and hot food should be hot. You should not put cold food prep under a heat lamp. Have proper steak or sharp knives at the table to cut food. Focus more on the quality of food prepared instead of the presentation of not good quality food. My final bill arrived late evening at 10 PM before checking out the next day and it was pouring rain out, so the doorbell rang. Good thing I was still awake. Upon inspection of the bill, I noticed charges for phone calls to the front desk. I find it a bit irritating that they charge you to call the front desk. When I called the front desk, they stated they would remove the charges. This is a big red flag, and I would encourage every guest that stays here to check every item on the bill before they check out. Imagine how much money they must collect if they are charging people who call the front desk. The most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. (I added this part last minute so 2-star rating for final bill check out because of the unnecessary and irritating charges on my final bill.) My suggestion would be to not charge guests to call the front desk. I believe this resort values its customers and tries to make your experience better in ways they can. For this the 4-star rating on this resort is most appropriate. My holiday was good even with a few missteps. Parts of my holiday were even great and amazing however that was solely due to my experience’s scuba diving with Agus. I recommend booking all your excursions, Vista dinning and tours right when you arrive as they can fill up quickly and you might miss something if you wait. As always please remember to be kind and courteous to the staff as they do try to make every effort possible to make your stay enjoyable. Should you have a major issue look to management to resolve them as yelling or treating any service staff unkindly is just wrong. Hope this review helps and may you have a wonderful vacation experience at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort.

My husband and I just got back from 5 nights at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo, and we had such an excellent and relaxing stay. We highly recommend this property to anyone who is hoping for that picture perfect Maldives experience, so if you’re wondering “does it really look like that???”…YES it does!! From the moment we arrived at night, we were greeted by staff at the airport and reception who were extremely considerate to our long travel day, welcoming us with dampened essential oil-infused towels and drinks. From the delicious food at the restaurant, unlimited drinks, and excellent amenities and excursion options - this place has it all! We were able to enjoy snorkeling, massages at the spa, special dinners at the Italian restaurant, fabulous poolside service…and of course that amazing view and swimming right off our over water villa. I definitely recommend getting an overwater villa if you are able to, the experience is unparalleled and the room was one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve been to plenty of nice resorts.) Everyone on the staff is super kind, and they go out of their way to ensure you’re enjoying yourself. The staff here take real pride in their work and it shows in the exceptional service, cleanliness, excursions and abundant food options. I really don’t have any complaints - come with the intention to relax and let go and you’ll be in good hands. Special shout out to the staff, all of whom really went the extra mile…including Ella, Raushan, Nazeer, Rabil, Yaman, Hoodh, JoAnn, Seraphini, etc. You guys are the best!!!

We had a fantastic stay at the Mercure, we highly recommend. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff that can’t do enough for you. Our room was cleaned everyday by Bawantha who did an excellent job and left us lots of beautiful bed decorations throughout our stay. We really enjoyed chatting with Chatura, top guy who always ensured our mini bar was stocked up too! The snorkelling off the reef drop off was incredible, we swam with turtles, sting ray and shark as well as loads of colourful varieties of fish. We did the dolphin cruise and felt we were so lucky to see so many! Never had an experience like it in our lives! The food was great at the Mercure and the spirits at the bar were all branded as part of the all inclusive. Jet ski excursion was great too and we loved the sunset yoga. A great place for our honeymoon, we stayed in a sunset overwater villa ❤️ and saw some amazing sunsets! Make sure to bring some smaller dollars for tipping.

This resort is magical. November was a beautiful time to go. We saw so much sea life, had beautiful weather and rain was minimum. The over the water villas are stunning and extremely roomy. The outdoor bathtub was my favorite amenity, you could enjoy a bath while watching the sunset. The staff was wodnerful and extremely helpful. You can tell they truly care about your experience and want you to have the best stay possible. I would absolutely want to return again. The food and drinks were also fantastic, we didn't have one thing that we didn't enjoy. The spa was wodnerful also, I had two massages, a facial and a body scrub and each one was amazing. We also really loved the Vista and ate there every other day, the entire staff was lovely and the food was top notch! My husband and I are on the pickier side and they were extremely accommodating when we asked to make changed to our meals. I can't say enough good things about this resort. There's also so many things to do while you are on the island. They have fitness and yoga classes, tours, excursions and much more. It truly was a dream come true.

My wife and I have recently returned from a 2 week vacation at the Mercure for my wife’s 60th birthday This was our first time to Maldives and this place didn’t disappoint, we stayed in a beach bungalow which was amazing the fact it was just meters away from our own piece of beach and straight into the amazing sea.(202) friendly staff made our stay memorable, the guys in the pool bar were always smiling and knew what you wanted to drink every time. A special shout out to JO-ANN and her team in the VISTA RESTAURANT (Kunal, Smith and chef Bipula this place made our vacation special what an amazing team and the food was super every time we ate there which was probably 80% of the time. Alcohol was good no expense spared. Snorkelling was amazing first time on the house reef we saw 2 large rays, sharks everywhere and our last day we had a turtle pop up 2meters away from us. The one and only issue for us was trying to get a hot drink at breakfast staff in there ignored us and most days we went without a hot drink with our breakfast, this was the same in the evening so we pretty much used the vista restaurant Try the pool bar for lunch 👌👌 I would definitely recommend and return to the Mercure in the future Thanks for a relaxing vacation

We are enjoying our last day at the wonderful Mercure Kooddoo resort. We are on a Luxury Escapes 7 day package and the Maldives have certainly lived up to our "Bucket List" expectations of 30 plus years. It did take three flights to get here via Singapore but it was worthwhile. First of all, the photos that you see of the Maldives are true to life. The sand is just so soft and the water is that gorgeous soft turquoise colour and just so clear. We chose an Ocean Villa right on the beach. It has been fabulous, large and roomy, so clean with the hugest bathroom with a separate shower, separate toilet as well as a very long bench with two basins and a relaxing couch. It means that there is loads of room for the bags of toiletries etc. that we usually have to hide. Outside is a lovely fresh air shower and bath. The bath towels are huge and the beach towels are plentiful. The shower gel, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner are of a very high quality. The king size bed is so very comfortable as are the pillows. We also have two chairs and a table inside our villa as well as desk and table. Ther are two comfy chairs and a table on our veranda and two comfortable lounges on the sand below our villa. The food is delicious and each and every one of the staff cannot do enough for their guests. We will miss the delicious breakfasts as well as the superb buffets each evening in Alita Restaurant as well as the excellent Italian food at Vista. Breakfast has been so good, we haven't needed lunch. The Espresso coffee is excellent and that is high praise from a Melbournian as we pride ourselves on our coffee. I cannot understand why this resort is listed as only 4 star as we have found the quality to be 5 star. In fact we haven't one critisicm. It has been a superb experience.

The beach villa was private and secluded with our own direct entry to the ocean. Every morning was a delight to wake up to the beach view, and as the resorts faces west, we could sit back and relax at the pool bar or on our very own sunbeds at the villa to enjoy the Maldivian sunset! We did not have to think about a thing! If you’re still reading, you’re wasting time.. just book it! No regrets! Xx

The hotel is approx 1 hours internal flight from the main airport, bear in mind the extra layover time when planning your trip. The island has a small airstrip so the hotel pick you up in a golf buggy and it's only a minute or two journey to the hotel. Although it is advertised as a 4 star everything about our stay was a 5 star experience. Location is everything you would expect, clear waters, turtles, baby sharks and many type of fish. It's not a huge resort so you get a very personal feel to the service and the team at the bar know you after the first day. All the staff were amazing and really made us feel welcome and looked after. There are 2 restuarants, the main buffet and an Italian a la carte, the pool bar also does lunch options and early evening snacks. All the food we had was delicious and the buffet has different themes each day to it doesn't get 'samey'. There are a full range of activities on offer but really this is somewhere to chill out and enjoy nature.

Start to finish a most memorable holiday. We had a beach villa (209) which was perfect for us. Great outdoor bathroom and long bit of ‘jungle’ providing shade if you want it or roll out onto the beach. Room was kept immaculately by Bawantha and attentive mini bar and general over seeing by Chathura. There is nothing to do or lots to do , you choose. We loved Pilates and unforgettable sunset yoga. The entire Dive team were amazing and delivered the best snorkelling experience I have had in my life. The house reef was full of good sized sharks (reef sharks, nursing sharks), rays and for me the odd turtle, though some saw many. It felt very safe and totally captivating. Mixing Vista A La Carte with the Alita restaurant kept things fresh. We found food quality and variety excellent. Service excellent with a smile. Themed nights added variety with the outdoor bbq night and deck dancing a real treat. Speak as you find and the location, activity opportunities, and every aspect for us was nailed by a superb team. I could carry on and on and on…. I now understand what ‘ultra’ inclusive means. Thank you Mercure.

The Mercure Kooddoo Maldives offers a stunning location and impressive infrastructure, making for an exceptional setting for a getaway. My experience at their Dive Center was excellent, providing memorable underwater adventures. While the location and infrastructure were impressive, the same could not be said for the food, which was merely okay. The service, too, left room for improvement and could have been more attentive. During my stay, I benefited from a promotional rate, which significantly improved the cost-benefit ratio. With this in mind, I would rate my overall experience at Mercure Kooddoo Maldives between 9 and 10. The exceptional location and diving experiences outweighed the minor drawbacks in food quality and service.

My husband and I went on 18 dives with guide Steve from Suvadiva Dive. Steve was an awesome guide with great eyes and enthusiasm to match! It was amazing what he could find, from leopard sharks to tiny pygmy squid. There were no 'ho-hum dives on this trip! Alina was very helpful in the office, and the boat crew of Ayub and Mutib with Captain Nazeer (Kapi) were simply awesome. They always had a smile on their face and assisted with gear on the way in and out of the water. They were also quick with towels and water after each dive. They took great care of our equipment from day 1 and always had everything ready for us before we stepped on the boat. They were the most efficient boat that I have ever been on in my 300 dives, which was perfect because we enjoyed our dives and had plenty of time for relaxing when we were not diving. We also were able to dive for up to an hour, much better than some shops that stop after 45 minutes regardless of how much air is left in our tank. Steve took great care to clean and dry our gear before our return flight, which we really appreciated. We would love to go back to dive more with this awesome crew!

The place looks like it's straight out of a wallpaper, the waters are crystal clear and the villas are great. We were in an overwater pool villa and the views from our villa were fantastic. We are vegetarians and the chefs took special care of us - shoutout to Selva and another chef whose name I don't recall right now. Even at the pool bar, the guys made us great drinks. The service was impeccable - we had someone decorate our bed with coconut tree leaves on Day 2. Our stay at Mercure was incredible. The place is gorgeous, activities were well managed and easy to book. November is the end of the rainy season, but it pretty much only rained at night, and very brief showers couple of times during the day. Nothing that impacted our stay. We did a sunset fishing excursion, which was a lot of fun and the boat staff was helpful and knowledgeable. We also went on a snorkeling excursion and that was truly an incredible experience. The reef is amazing. We had no problem with getting kayaks, paddle boards. Jet skis were lots of fun. The resort provides snorkeling equipment for the duration of your stay, which is great because snorkeling right out of the bungalow is amazing. Food at the buffet was surprisingly top notch, we enjoyed every meal we had there. Breakfast station with fresh prepared eggs, waffles, crepes, was my favorite morning stop. We both don’t love lamb normally, but every time we had it at the buffet dinner, it was amazing! Grill night at the buffet was awesome, with all the fresh grilled meat choices. We had lunch at the pool bar few times and it was great. The sit down restaurant has two seating times at dinner, but we had no problem with making reservations. The caprese salad and the fillet were perfection! Drinks were fantastic and the pool bar staff super attentive. Special shout out to Pubudu who went above and beyond to make our time enjoyable! Thank you for all the micropolitans! The mini bar in the room is good. We weren’t thrilled with the choices of alcohol, just because that’s not what we drink, but the bar staff is more than happy to send you back to the room with a tall glass of liquor of choice to go! You can request a bucket of ice delivered to the room. If there was anything I’d like to see, it would be an ice maker in the room or close by. Waiting for the ice delivery is not always convenient. We got massages twice, the spa is wonderful. Great service, ambiance, and massage was A++. It is a very chill place. If you are looking for a party island, this is not it. Everything goes quiet by 10:30. It was exactly what we were looking for, so it was perfect. Thing to keep in mind, the island is about an hour flight from Male and the flights between Koodoo and Male are every 3-4 hours. So at arrival, you might have a 3+ hour wait at Male and you might have to leave the island quite a bit before your departure from Male. We had a very early morning start on our last day to catch our flight, but the staff ensured everything was arranged, even delivered breakfast to our room, since it was too early for the buffet breakfast. All in all, amazing trip. I miss Mercure and the Koodoo island already!

Let me break this down as we just got back from a 9 night vacation here last week. Villa - Like many have said, the pictures don’t do them proper justice. Spacious, comfortable, clean and the outdoor tub/shower? Love it! Had 525 over the water. Staff - Like many have said also, most do not go out of their ways to ask you do you need anything etc, maybe it’s a culture thing I don’t know but in fairness there’s not a dedicated waitstaff for the pool area, it seems everyone does everything so you as a guest have to get someone’s attention. That said once you ask someone anything, they were always helpful/ attentive but again just for that request. Special shout out to Tia (hostess/waitress), JoAnn at Vista (hostess) and Kunal who is a great bartender. These 3 added that extra hospitality that both me and my partner really appreciated. I regrettably didn’t get our housekeepers name but he did a great job keeping our villa cleaned and stocked, and even made a nice happy bday display for my partner! Drinks - This is an area that wasn’t great/consistent. Great selection of liquor but while all bartenders did measure the amounts of alcohol (ie 1 oz or 2 oz), most do not/did not measure the amounts of every other liquid that goes into the drink (ie mixers, juices, etc). When you uncaringly pour the remaining ingredients in using the eyeball approach/fill up the glass or shaker with the rest, well it leads to random results each drink etc. Like my food when I order though, I instructed each bartender with the proper quantities I wanted which albeit a bit more effort as I stood by coaching / monitoring them, I ultimately received what I wanted / how I wanted so all good at end of day. Food - Vista the Italian restaurant was great. We are foodies and that restaurant could compete anywhere in the states and be very successful. Loved it as we ate there about every night after the first few days. The main buffet restaurant? Well I’ll repeat what most have said but it’s true. Breakfast was the best for us mainly cause we could get allot of fresh/hot made stuff ( ie eggs, French toast etc). Lunch & dinner had a large variety and was at least constantly changing daily so didn’t get too boring surprisingly. Food quality of the meats ie lamb, duck, beef were average at best. Non-meats, veggies, fruits, etc were very good quality so we could always find something to eat. I give the buffet a 3 star which it could very easily get another 1/2 star from me with better servicing of the food in the buffet pans (ie don’t let the food sit too long in the pans looking old, more quickly adding fresher/hotter food to the pans, etc) and better quality meats. This plus what I mentioned above about drinks is what prevents this resort from being a legit 5 star place imo but these 2 items is all I can complain a ‘bit’ about. Property - Absolutely gorgeous, clean, top notch. Enough said. Spa - Loved it as we had 2 couples massages. Snorkeling - Breathtaking and best we’ve done yet. Went almost everyday. Arrangements - check in/check out was ok no issues. Signing for the alcohol bill even if $0 at an all-inclusive resort I didn’t think would bother me because I knew about it in advance, but it does get quite annoying after a few days. Management should consider modifying their internal processes/constraints/etc that currently makes this process seem necessary, because from the customers perspective this is very annoying. If this is a government requirement or something outside the resorts control, then the resort should communicate to guests upon arrival so guests like me don’t hold any minor grudge against the resort for having to do this. They did great job coordinating all arrangements to/from resort which was worry free. Vouchers - See comments about spa above, snorkeling trip was great did that 2x, did the photo shoot which was surprisingly very very good, non-motorized sports were great.

We had the experience of a lifetime at this wonderful resort. From start to finish, we felt welcomed in this little slice of paradise. The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful, they are always smiling and you are treated with true hospitality. You can see for yourself how the place looks - photos cannot do it justice but it is truly spectacular. We ate fantastic food at every single meal (even between meals sometimes with the snacks in our room), a mix of local and international cuisine, but always to an exceptional standard. We enjoyed a massage in the spa that was wonderfully relaxing and helped us get into holiday mode! All topped off with a visit to the local sandbank for reef snorkelling and a sunset cruise as dolphins leapt around our boat… Special mention must go to the incredible staff at the Suvadiva Dive Centre on site - Agus, Steve, Alina and the boat crew were helpful, friendly and patient with us novice scuba divers, helping us to improve our skills, get comfortable in the water, but most importantly showing us the incredible underwater world that surrounds the resort. We planned an impromptu trip to the Maldives and were pleasantly surprised with our stay. This is officially a 4-star resort however the attention to detail and personal service provided by Christoph and his team made our holiday every bit a 5 star experience. Christoph puts guest satisfaction as his highest priority and he has assembled an attentive team that are eager to please. The food and beverage service is outstanding. We spent 8 nights in an overwater bungalow, and one night in a bungalow with a dipping pool and loved every bit. Bungalows - generous size, comfortable beds, and plenty of privacy Food + cocktails - there are 2 restaurants 1) buffet style wide selection of cuisines and flavours, beats some of the 5 star resorts we have stayed at 2) Italian restaurant - authentic flavours, loved the pastas! Day spa - the resort offers 50% off vouchers for the spa treatments, the masseur’s were Balinese and experienced - the massages were soo good we went back twice. Water sports - paddle boards and jetskis were great fun, although we recommend a 30 min JetSki ride rather than the 15min voucher freebie. The 30min option provides a tour around the island. Ocean view - idyllic views all round, can’t go wrong with any of the room types, each category of accommodation comes with its own perks. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

Pradeep at the pool bar always had a smile on his face and the drinks there were also fantastic. Alina at the dive centre was very helpful. The house reef was incredible. Swimming from your back deck and seeing Turtles, sharks, rays and millions of different fish was incredible. The jet ski/sandbank tour was also a highlight. Definitely would come back.

There are only about 70 villas on property and it’s so secluded. We loved it. We stayed in an over the water bungalow and the room was amazing and the view was out of this world. Also, everyone was so friendly (staff and guests). This was our first all inclusive and tipping was a little weird. You had to sign / tip for everything. Tip: you have to sign up for all the activities. I recommend looking at the schedule and signing up during check-in.

Wow, where to start! Having booked via Voyage Privé, with whom we had never travelled before, I was a little apprehensive but I needn’t have worried. From the moment we arrived at Male airport a member of the Kooddoo resort staff was on hand to welcome us. After very long flights, he told us we would be able to make the earlier domestic flight than had been arranged for us, and took us straight to the check in desk where he handled our check in seamlessly. He then escorted us to a lovely lounge where we had free refreshments whilst waiting just a short time for our domestic flight with Maldivian Airlines. For the Brits amongst you, we were highly amused that the light refreshments provided on board included a bar of Cadbury’s chocolate! On arrival at Kooddoo airport we were met by a lovely lady Emma, who transported us and our luggage to the Hotel via a buggy, a mere couple of minutes away. We were met in reception with cold towels and refreshments whilst our check in was quickly and efficiently processed. We were made to feel like royalty. As we had arrived earlier than expected, our room wasn’t ready but they stated they would expedite this and offered us an opportunity to use showers or relax at the pool bar. We chose the latter! When initially booking the holiday, we chose an overwater bungalow, but changed our minds having read a review about the fruit bats living in the trees around the beach bungalows. We are wildlife lovers, so chose this option instead and I am so glad we did. We felt like we had much more privacy as we were screened from our neighbours by dense vegetation and palm trees. With the lagoon only a few feet from our veranda, it really felt like we were on a desert island, and I was so pleased we hadn’t gone with the overwater option. Our bungalow was kept spotlessly clean by Chathura and Bawantha and most days we would return to beautiful ‘bedart’ created by the latter, a truly talented young man. We ate at both restaurants during our stay and the food at both was delicious, particularly at the Alita which had so much choice, and never felt ‘samey’. We went to the Vista for my partner’s birthday and the chef had very kindly made a cake which was incredibly tasty. I must make special mention of Laxaai and Ibrahim in the Alita and Joanne in Vista who were specifically attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We were worried that we might be bored but there was so much to do. Much of our time was spent snorkelling on the amazing house reef just outside the lagoon. However, we are both qualified divers so decided to do some diving too. We have dived all over the world and I can honestly say, Suvadivers at the resort, and Agus our dive leader in particular were the most professional we have ever come across. The attention to diver safety was better than I have ever come across at any dive centre, and pre-dive briefings by Agus were very thorough. He was also keen to make sure we saw as many ‘pelagics’ as possible and we were lucky enough to spot turtles, and numerous types of rays and sharks, as well as the many beautiful coloured fish you would expect in the Indian Ocean. What really makes this place are the staff though. They are genuinely lovely, right down to the groundskeepers who always gave a cheerful greeting when walking past. We have been home several weeks now and still have the holiday blues. Kooddoo was such a special place and I really hope to return one day.

Incredible welcome! - Great coordination between Male and Kooddoo colleagues. Knew my name upon arrival at Kooddoo Airport - Short buggy ride from airport to hotel - Beautiful drink with fresh towel upon arrival - Was taken to room and didn't have to go through lengthy reception check in stuff after a long day which was clever of them. This was left for the next day when you're fresh. - Proper check in next day by Kylie and received various freebies and discounts Room - Spacious - Photos don't do it justice - Amazing AC and fan - Super comfy bed and pillows - Lovely products - Outdoor bathtub. Massive. But not comfortable to lie in. No neck support. Also no place to keep shampoo, body wash or towel. Only available in outdoor shower. Would be great if there were more hooks to hang towels and bathing suits. Alita Restaurant - Monday night Mediterranean buffet. Variety but most dishes a bit tasteless and cold. Breakfast is nice with pork bacon available. Rest of the dinners and lunch were really really good. Vista Restaurant - Delicious! Beautiful views. Beware you need to make a reservation. Pool Bar - Staff are not very attentive. They're super friendly but not replenishing drinks often. - Drinks are ice cold and quick once ordered. - You are asked to sign if you consume beverages, but instead of keeping a tab open, they bring you the bill to sign after every drink. And if you drink at the restaurant next to it, it's not the same bill, so more little bills to sign... Dive center - Lovely staff! Amazing Wifi across the entire resort! Staff aren't trying to sell you tours or anything else, which is lovely. You get to enjoy yourself without the typical upselling that hotel staff tend to do. Shop is lovely! Great variety of items you may run out of or may need. I had a beach pool unit. Excellent for when you want to hear waves crash whilst sleeping. The pool however was super cold as it's constantly in the shade.

It’s been magical, 1 month has passed and I still can’t get back to reality. My mind keeps wondering back to the little island (7 nights still too short). It’s not crowded and you recognised the faces after awhile. Smile and hellos were not limited from the staff but also the holidaymakers (adults only). We exchanged info on wat we saw in the in-house reefs (foc snorkelling gears from water sport centre). And those amazing marines are simply breathtaking (dolphins swimming past our villa, hawksbill turtle; blacktips (we have 11 swimming with us in one moment); nurse shark; moray; lobster; porcupine fish etc). We have a few days of rain but the recovery in the villa (mini fridge & snacks top up every day) and the meals/ drinks (all inclusive) make up for it. Email correspondence on transfer and domestic flight (luggage weight limits) were stated clearly and we were received by the staff in the international airport and house in the lounge before boarding the domestic flight. Throughout we experienced the seamless arrangements and there’s just nothing that worries or concerns us. We dived at shark point with Steve and he spotted the bull and leopard sharks. Thank you again to all the staff (even the non frontline service staff stop their work and offer to take photo for us). Hiaz I want to go back.

We stayed at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort June 18th through 25th celebrated our 10 years wedding anniversary and my husband belated birthday. It was our very first time in the Maldives. We love the resort and snorkeled every day. We did the dolphin cruise, and it was fun! We also did the couples massage at the spa, it was really relaxing and wonderful! We booked the overwater sunset bungalow with a pool. We stayed in bungalow 508. The view was breathtaking! The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming! The food was delicious! The resort is beautiful and clean! Our favorite was the seafood night, all you can eat lobsters. We love the Italian restaurant too! It was such an amazing experience! We still talked about it today. We love everything about the resort and Maldives, so we highly recommend it to our friends and family! ❤️

I have read of people’s experiences temporarily visiting the afterlife, or ‘heaven’, wherever your belief system lies. They tell of this common overwhelming feeling of being cared for, of being loved. Made feel that nothing else is important. If these experiences are anywhere true, then my wife and I visited heaven. From the minute we stepped off the plane and transported the short journey to the resort (5mins) we were made feel so welcome, as if all members of staff have a gift of emanating care. So my first and most important plus was the staff. They couldn’t do enough for you, always with a smile. Remembering your room number is a small thing I know, but very nice. The beach villa we had booked was perfect, a short step or two to the clear warm waters of the Indian Ocean, an outside bath/shower area allowed you to wash in nature, the king size bed that was difficult to get out of in the morning due to its excess comfort, the constantly stocked minibar, the wonderfully essential air conditioning. Took our breath away.. Food was wonderful. A buffet restaurant which served consistently great food from a wide selection of cuisines, a different theme every night for dinner. An Italian restaurant with a view out to sea. Finally snacks at the bar area meant you were never far away from food. The bar staff were wonderful. Serving up whatever cocktail you wished, again taking time to chat when they could. This was our first trip to the Maldives, and during our stay we experienced lots of firsts. First time snorkelling with an abundance of tropical fish. First time being in the presence of a shoal of dolphins, first time jet skiing, first time I swam with my head above water….. our first long haul flight. We also made some new friends from other parts of the world and had a more than enjoyable time ‘socialising’ with them. (Loads of free cocktails helped!!) So, with all that in mind, we would like to thank everyone at the resort for making our stay the most wonderful holiday we have ever experienced and look forward to seeing you all next year. Love, john and june.

After this stay I will ask Google to be able to put 6 stars for outstanding, outperforming and out of this world experiences like the one in Mercure Kooddoo. We chose this hotel for 8 days for our honeymoon. 5 days in a beach villa and 3 days in an overwater villa with swimming pool. First of all thanks a lot to the reception personnel who gave us the rooms that we specifically requested. Staff is the kindest we have ever had and they will fulfill any of your requests. I want to highlight some members of the staff that really provide a 5 star service: Jilani - who provides the beach villas room service. Apart of doing his job he literally makes art with the flowers and towels decorations. Ibrahim- The always smiling and extremely kind waiter at Alita restaurant makes you feel so comfortable with his service and how he treats you. Smith- Young waiter at Vista restaurant putting so much detail in explaining you everything you ask. Layaal- She's waitress at the Alita Restaurant and I want to highlight her customer focus service. Rooms are big, well equipped and very well decorated although some of the furniture may need a soon replacement due to a bit old. The beach villas are a truly journey into the originary Maldivian nature. They are sorrounded by jungle and the outdoors shower is a an amazing experience. The ocean villa with swimming pool is a journey into the luxury, privacy and relax. The snorkel you can do just out of your villa is stunning. The resort has two restaurants, a buffet type and an Italian a la carte. In both you find quality cuisine. At the buffet restaurant, the food is so varied every day and with plenty of different options. The Italian restaurant I would say is one of the best I have ever been. Although we stayed 8 days at the resort, we never felt we were repeating any meal. The hotel activities are highly recommended. Dolphin cruise (have in mind that the dolphis are not always seen), sandbank trip, romantic dinner, food tray, snorkel excursion,... All of them are really worthy. As a tip, bring tons of suncream and try to avoid being outdoors during the clear days between 10:30-13:30 as the sun really burns you.

One of the most enjoyable holidays we’ve ever had . The resort is lovely but it’s the staff that make it a stand out place to stay, The over water villa had everything you could need . Best snorkelling we’ve done anywhere in the world & straight off our own deck . A highlight was enjoying a glass of wine in our own pool whilst watching the sun set. Food was amazing . The buffet spread in Alita restaurant was so varied & delicious that we didn’t bother with the Italian restaurant. Special mention to Sajuwa & Ibrahim who looked after us so well & always had time to have a chat. & share some local knowledge with us, Pradeep & Kusan in pool bar soon learned what our favourite drinks were & we had hardly sat down & our favourite tipple appeared. Place was immaculately clean & there is a lovely little spa that helped fill a rainy morning. Every member of staff smiled & greeted us throughout the resort & made us feel welcome . Definitely recommend a stay here to unwind

Stayed at the Mercure Maldives for our honeymoon for 10 days and boy are we happy we did. Amazing views, amazing amenities but what really makes the venue is the staff and how hospital/friendly they are. Huge thanks to Chatura & Bawantha from housekeeping for going above & beyond to make our stay amazing. The bar staff are all amazing - they'll get you whatever you need whenever you need it an always bring a positive vibe to the place. Kamal, Kasun, Pradeep & especially Kamal are absolute legends and the stay wouldn't have been anywhere as great without them. The staff at the restaurants are just as great - in particular, Nashid, Ibrahim & Mazin went above & beyond to get whatever we need, but also chat to us regularly and give us some insight into life in the Maldives. The Italian restaurant also offers 10/10 service and food - Nihal, Kunal, Smith & Chef Edi are nothing short of world-class. The dive centre staff are just as great as well - the manager, Alina was amazing in helping to organise events & all staff managing both the boats and other activities make every experience memorable. We went on Jet Ski rides with Vishal & Toddy and they did not disappoint! The boat captain, Nazir & his crew were also amazing to be a part of - they always brought both energy & local knowledge to every fishing trip. Yasir from the dive centre also always greeting us with a smile on his face and was awesome to chat with. Finally, the reception staff are willing to help organise anything you need with a smile - big thank you to Yasin for helping organise everything from buggies to massages to more! If you're thinking about an all inclusive getaway in the Maldives, you can't go past the Mercure - my parter & I will definitely be back soon.

First and foremost, the staff was great. Extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable. We selected a sunset view with a pool. Would recommend this as an upgrade. Snorkeled every day from our deck. Saw a tremendous number of fish, reef sharks, turtles and an eagle ray. Best snorkeling is the transition area from the shallow reef to the deeper area. Resort is beautiful. Beach is clean and main pool is nice. Highlights included a day scuba diving (Steve was great), a snorkel boat trip (saw a ton of dolphins along the way) and our favorite was a private jet ski tour to a deserted sandbar where we explored the island and then snorkeled in the clearest water of the trip in the reef off of the sandbar. We opted for a 90 minute tour which was just enough time to do what we wanted. Shorted would have been a mistake. We got lucky with the weather... pouring rain on the day we arrived but then the next 6 were sunny to partly cloudy. Only downside I can really think of was the food and drinks were good, but not great. We went to the Italian restaurant two of the nights and ate in the main buffet the others. Once again, not bad, just not as great as it could have been. The trip was still amazing and we loved every minute of it. Long flight from Colorado, but absolutely worth it! Back two days ago and missing it already. Enjoy!

After almost thirty hours flying we finally arrived in MLÉ Airport, we were greeted by Representatives from the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, and were escorted to the lounge where we can relax till the boarding starts with refreshments and Wi-Fi. After about 20 minutes or so, the rep come and inform us that we’re ready to check-in, the rep handling all the checking process, but we have to be there with him at the local domestic checking in for verification. We wait about an hour or so to board the plane for the resort. After leaving MLÉ airport onto Maldivians(local airline) about and hour and twenty five minutes we landed in Kooddoo airport(GKK). Kooddoo airport does not have traffic control, or any hi tech equipments. As soon as we landed there are three guys pulling 3 baggage carts, manually unloaded the baggage into a cart. Passengers walk into this small building, where we all waited for our luggages to be brought into the building. We got our luggages, went outside and our resort’s reps and our transportation(buggy)were there to take us to the resort. The resort is about a stone throw away from the Koodoo airport(GKK)less than five minutes buggy ride. As we strolling thru the luscious greenery scenery, we comes to our destination. As we approached the resort, we were welcoming by numerous of staffs with smiles like they been waiting for the returning of a family member, welcoming us with necklace made of palm leave to put on our neck. They sat us down for the checking in process, went through a couple of paper works, verifications, vouchers redeem. Explanation, cards, and resort program - weekly schedules for activities and food service were handout for our stays. After the check in process was done,we hopped onto a buggy and they took us to our room, they will bring our suitcase later. As we left the front office(Reception)and approaching the villa we were enchanted with the crystal clear and over the water villas. 304 there it is our Over Water Sunset Villa ! We booked Over the Water Sunset Pool Villa, as the name suggests there’s our own private pool in our Villa. The Villa was spacious, clean and very immaculate, the bathroom is nice and unique, jacuzzi, a shower and a shower outside on deck. There is mini fridge, snacks, safe, and a welcome champagne in the room. Hint: No iron or iron board in the room, you have to call the housekeeping or front desk to get it. If your TV in the room doesn’t turn on, your remote batteries need to be changed, that what happened with our :) Each Villa got a glass window on the floor where you can view thru to watch the fish, reef sharks and other swimming specially at night where the light turned onto the water beneath the Villa where the corals were placed there for that purpose. Mercure Hotels & Resorts got 25 Beach Villas, 5 Beach Pool Villa. 1-4 bedroom Beach Pool Villa. 43 Over Water Villa, 15 Over Water Sunset Pool Villa,17 OverWaterSunset Villa, and 11 Over Water Villa. Mercure got Boutique shop, BusinessCenter and Clinic,Tennis Court,FitnessCenter, Water sports, Dive Center, Pool bar and a Spa. There are two Restaurants: Alita- buffet , and Vista-A la Carte- serving lunch and dinner. You can also do room service, but with a fee or you can walk down to the pool bar and order your foods. Mercure Maldives KooDoo is an amazing resort, breathtaking views, crystal clear lagoon, friendly staffs, great foods, drinks and friendly smile. Each day there are activities that scheduled on your handout when you’ve arrived. There are non motorized activities that are complimented with your stay, such as Kayak,Stand up Paddle Board, and Windsurfing. Motorized activities, Jet Ski, Fun Tube Ride, Water Ski/ Wake Board- these are extra, check with the water sport center. We did Jet Ski,Sunset Fishing trip, and Dolphins Cruise by using vouchers included in our packages when we booked with Travelzoo. We like that it is an adult only resort, relax, serenity, and peaceful where you can indulging yourself and forget about the real world for a bit. We met awesome people from all over part of the world, very friendly staffs, people that understood the concept of hospitality, and guess service. We enjoyed our Over WaterSunset Pool Villa a lot, we spent hours in the pool watching sunset, shark reefs, stingrays, turtles and many fishes that swim near and under our villa. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower to washes off the saltwater or chlorine from the pool. The foods were different every nights, according to the Resort Program layout. The foods were so delicious at the buffet, we didn’t even take the opportunity to try the VISTA(Italian)restaurant. We were a bit disappointed with some of the activities that the guests have to book to participated in, i.e Maldivian Art and Crafts,Maldivian Cooking Demo, and so on. We also a bit disappointed with one of the rude behavior of one of the food supervisor that we being giving a cold shoulder. He would walk by and not saying a word , but then start to say something to next table. We thought that kind of odd. At one occasion we ordered drink from the bar, because the waiter or waitress did not come and take our drink order, the bartender responded with attitude “You coulda order from them” them- the server. Hint : After you sit down at table, you need to order a drink before you go get your food. If not,you gonna wait forever for your drink. But it’s not a big dot deal. Disregard the rude behaviors and a feel- like discrimination. We Enjoy the Maldivian Traditional Boduberu Show and Movie Under Stars at the pool deck. Every evening the blue light lit up the walkway to the Over Water Villa contrast with the starry night that you can only experience at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo. All in All we love Mercure Maldives Kooddoo, we’re glad we made the right choices, it worth every pennies. We appreciated all the welcoming staffs, people like Ella, Dwarma,Pradeep, Chathura,Bawantha, and to all the chefs, the waiters, waitresses, pool bar bartenders. When it’s time to checkout, Mercure handles all the checkout process, boarding pass, passport control, their rep even help you put your suitcase thru the x-ray machine. After all their guests pass thru the inspection then the rep would leave the site. On the day that we left the resort, one of the bartender that is an employee of Mercure who was going home for vacation, took the time to help us and another elderly couple who was on the same flights with us back to the State, and he was not even on the clock. A staff met us at the Male airport and took care of everything from that point on. The environment of the resort was wonderfully kept. It was smaller than anticipated but it was not lacking. The size provided a more relaxed atmosphere. Being that it was adults only also made it less chaotic without small children everywhere had there been families there.

We stayed in an over-the-water bungalow and it was incredible! The room was spacious, clean, and of course unique. You can watch fish through the glass section of the floor, or walk out your deck and see lots of fish while enjoying your coffee/drink. Even better, walk down the steps and go directly into the water! The (entire) staff is absolutely wonderful! We did not encounter one person who was not friendly. They always wore a smile and were more than happy to take a moment to get to know you. The food? Excellent. Every single day had new items, along with the regular staple items. Even the head chef made an effort to smile and greet us every day. Depending on where you live, The Maldives can be a very long trip (we actually circumnavigated the globe) with many hours on a plane. However, it was definitely worth it and we would like to return again. Bottom line, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort is wonderful and we hope we can return again.

The staff of the dive center were so awesome. I had so many questions even before we got to the resort, and they very patiently and kindly answered every single one. Alina handled all of our overall dive questions thoroughly, and our guide, Agus, was incredible! He was so kind and patient with me during our dives, and he took us to the best spots to see some incredible coral reefs and marine life. We snorkeled, went to the spa, and even worked out in the fitness center! I've never wanted to work out on a trip before, but it was so fun to work out at this resort. All of the staff were attentive and got to know us well. I would 100% recommend staying at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort!
