Stunning Resort, But Disappointed by Breakfast Policy, Communication, and Room Comfort
I stayed at SO/ Maldives and the overall experience was beautiful in terms of the location, design, and ambiance. The villas are luxurious and the setting is breathtaking. However, a few issues really impacted our stay—particularly the breakfast policy, staff communication, and room comfort.
Our booking included one complimentary breakfast during the stay. I was told this breakfast had to be reserved at least 24 hours in advance—but every time I tried to book it, they said it was “fully booked.” Oddly, when I requested a floating breakfast (which is paid), it was suddenly available. So how was it fully booked if it could be arranged once I was paying for it? It felt like the complimentary benefit was being made intentionally hard to redeem.
Another issue happened with the private dinner I booked. Due to bad weather the first two days, the team told me they’d notify me once the weather improved. On the day the weather got better, I checked with them in the morning and was told the dinner wouldn’t happen. But later, I saw the setup being prepared. When I asked, they said “We were waiting for you.” That was very frustrating—no one informed me or followed up, even though I had asked earlier that day.
Additionally, the air conditioning in our overwater villa was not sufficient. The room temperature stayed around 28°C, and it was uncomfortably warm throughout the night—even though the door was fully closed and locked. It really affected our sleep and overall comfort.
On a positive note, I want to thank Abdelkader, who was with us from the very first day and was always helpful and attentive. We truly appreciated his support throughout our stay.

Excellent Experience with the SportZone Team
During our stay at SO/ Maldives, we had the pleasure of dealing with the SportZone team—and they were absolutely amazing. Every team member we interacted with was professional, kind, and extremely helpful. They made our activities enjoyable and stress-free, and their positive attitude truly added to the overall experience at the resort.
The activities themselves were beautifully organized, well-planned, and a lot of fun. Everything ran smoothly and on time, which made it even more enjoyable.

SO/ Maldives is a beautiful resort with amazing potential, but I hope the management improves internal communication, room climate control, and ensures guests receive the service they’re promised without confusion or unnecessary complications.
