Cons and pros of our stay at Alila
Pros: I loved the privacy in the beach villas. The outdoor restroom and shower with the rain added to the scene. I fihnd it exceptional. The sandbank dining was the best experience I had. I enjoyed swimming their also. The hotel staff were all helpful and smiling. They also made sure we had a joyful and comfortable stay. We say the property manager many times and he always made sure that we are enjoying our stay.
Cons: The cons for me is that there are lots of mosquitos even the restort tries to control it. But I guess it is part of the scene so we have to live with it. I wish that they buitl indoor bathrooms and kept the outdoor ones as a optional bonus. I found that the food was a bit expensive compared to the portion and quality. The quality was good but not for the price.

it was poor comparing to other islands
Pros: the butler Alla gets things done and always available. restaurant manager did make changes after I gave him feedback.
Cons: the level of service and the whole experience isn’t great. No experience people or trained at least the butler and sea salt restaurant manager were the only one with experience. had few sad accidents there and golf cars accidents. everything moved on like nothing happened. I had so much better experiences where there were the actual Maldives hospitality in different islands. it’s just shame that Alila is part of Hayat and operating in pre opening mode! beaches are full of rocks and not clean too!

Super modern resort and friendly staff. It’s a private and small island.
Pros: We were greeted upon arrival to the island with a lovely welcome drink. Our private butler then gave us a tour of the island on his golf cart. The check-in process was very smooth and done at our over water villa which was very convenient since we did not need to go to reception to check in. We loved that the resort was brand new and our sunrise water villa room was modern and very well equipped. The restaurant staff, the support staff and our butler Niyaz were super friendly and ready to ensure that we had a fabulous stay at the resort. We enjoyed the lavish breakfast buffet as well as dinner at both restaurants at the resort. The entire resort also felt very private and aside from the restaurant, we saw very few other guests while enjoying the beach or snorkeling. The only one negative is that the coral reefs for snorkeling are not fully developed as yet given that that resort is so new. To get great snorkeling, you need to hire a private boat to go further out from the resort.
Cons: The property is super modern.

Extremly stylish Resort with execptional bungalows, a lot of privacy with private pool. Butlerservice, Extremly friendly staff and manager, helpfull in every respect. Lovley almost private dive-center. Large diving-boat, everything was provided and ready to use.
Cons: Maledives are known to be expensive, but food and drinks were extremly expensive. Expect for a soup 25$, for a side dish or dessert 25$ and for a simple main course, such as fish curry with rice, 50$....

Alila Kothaifaru isn't just a destination; it's a dream woven into the fabric of the Maldives. It's a place where time slows, hearts connect, and the beauty of nature is revered. This is not just a vacation, it’s a return to a paradise we never knew we had lost. From the moment our seaplane touched down on the glimmering waters of the Raa Atoll, it was clear that Alila Kothaifaru was going to be more than just a holiday retreat – it was a gateway to an ethereal world and of course our stay wouldn't be the best for these amazing pepz of Alila - Lily, Naru and the chefs who cook our amazing food (Japanese restau Chefs and All day dining as well as in villa dining chefs) Kudos! and thank you very much for making our wonderful retreat the best!

We truly enjoyed our 5-night Nov’23 stay at Alila. It was our 3rd resort within Maldives (previous trips) and a delight. The resort is right sized for the accommodations and activities without ever feeling crowded. We were pleased with the minimalist mindset as it was paperless checkin/checkout and easy to navigate around the island. The rooms of course are modern with effective amenities like well placed electronic charging ports, bed night stands, lighting control panel by bed, and pivoting doors. Of course it would have been nice if there were bicycles to ride but understand this is difficult due to safety with overwater villa areas. Either way a nice walk or buggy ride were effective as needed. From the warm Champaign welcome from the General manager (Thomas) and his staff to our final send off, it seemed they were always attentive to our needs AND TRULLY ENJOYED WORKING AT THE RESORT. This is a testament to the General Managers style as I frequently noticed his casual and warm interactions with his staff. My son had food allergies so the word got out and the staff made sure we navigated through food preparations ok. We visited all restaurants and cafes and the food was good to great including the buffet. We spent the most time at Umami as Japanese cuisine is one of our favorites. I want to give special thanks to specific staff that made our stay pleasant: Nasse- our butler was quiet by nature but caring and attentive (even for our late night buggy rides) Justus- at the seaside restaurant always made sure the food and and service met our needs Hafiz, Maya, and Kudde - provided exceptional care to our various needs throughout our stay Room Tips: Sunset overwater villas have best view of sunset over the water during the Nov-Jan months from the farthest villas from the land (223,221,219,217 are best views during the period mentioned). Otherwise the sunset is over the island so somewhat obstructed. Sunrise side villas are completely unobstructed so consider this when choosing what’s important to you. Personally love the sunsets as I don’t like to wake up early while on holiday (eventhough it takes a day or two to adjust time zones).

All we can say is wow - our stay at Alila Kothaifaru was sublime. The location and facilities are incredible. We stayed in a beach villa and it was spacious, clean, private and luxurious. Sultan, our villa host, did everything to make our stay memorable and ensured we didn’t want for anything. The food at Seasalt was spectacular and the service from the staff, especially Hameen, Justus, Chef Bineesh, Samy, Shaneen and Paul was exceptional. Drinks by the pool and at Mirus Bar were fantastic and Mendis and Ranjan made us some delicious cocktails and always made us feel very welcome. The experiences were also wonderful, including snorkelling, a sunset dolphin cruise and massages at the spa. A highlight was the Art of Coconut experience where we learned about the importance of the coconut in Maldivian life along with a cooking class, cocktail making class and couples massage. We would highly recommend it. We have stayed in some amazing places over the years and Alila Kothaifaru is now right at the top of the list. Our thanks to Thomas, Sultan and the team for making it such a wonderful experience.

We stayed in both a beach villa and a sunset villa on the ocean. We wanted to experience both types, and they were both wonderfully amazing. These giant villas had spacious living rooms and perfect outdoor spaces complete with pools. The water villa had a remarkable toilet with a stunning view, while the beach villa featured an open-air toilet surrounded by tons of plants - it was incredibly romantic. The breakfasts were really cool. I particularly enjoyed the food at the Japanese restaurant. The Tokyo salad was my favorite, a taste I won't forget. We truly enjoyed it, though some of the other dishes weren't anything special for the price. Eating there all day could literally cost 1000€. The food and all the activities are really expensive - it's considerably overpriced. You literally have a host available for you 24 hours a day at the resort. Our guy, Nasse, was really cool and helped us with everything - organizing activities, ordering food, and so on. It's perfect that the resort provides one person per villa who's available literally 24/7. Here is some photos.

If you don’t mind staying on an island that has serious pest problems to the degree that they fog every morning 5-6am right before you wake up and smoke every evening 5-6pm right before your dinner time, then this is the place for you! We stayed at ALILA recently, and it was a very bad experience for us. We were not informed of their pest problems and practices until we arrive on the island for checked in. I was pretty shocked. I’ve never heard of luxury resorts doing this during prime hours of the day. When checking social media afterwards, I also saw many people complain about their pest issues too. Two people mentioned getting bites all over their body that looked like bedbug bites and the hotel said it’s due to hairy caterpillars. If you’re still dealing with such a degree of pest problems that the island requires such extensive fogging and smoking, then maybe you should close for a few months to deal with the issue first before opening and ruining vacations for guests. This is suppose to be a luxury vacation that people spend thousands of dollars very day to come relax and enjoy, not to inhale toxic air. Island is very small and very limited options, so I guess maybe because there’s nothing else to do so they want to keep the guests inside their villas all the time. I strongly recommend going with Joali or Joali Being nearby since Alila sounds cheaper but it isn’t that much cheaper when you consider price doesn't include seaplane transfer which is $1300 for two and dinner will average to 300 per night, it adds up afterward. For just a bit more, you can book other places that has way better facilities, inclusive of dinner and seaplane/speedboat transfers in their packages, and most importantly, you won’t have to inhale toxic air and deal with the excess pest issue. Having dealt with pest controls in the past, I’m familiar with smell of foggers which might be unfamiliar to most and I can smell the residual odor throughout the morning. And it’s definitely harmful to people long run, especially those who are more sensitive. On the first night of check in, I already started having throat irritation and breathing problems. I took medications and it got better but I was so stressed over it happening again since they do this everyday, so even though our original plan was stay three nights, we end up only staying one and booked somewhere else immediately last minute. Even for guests who are not sensitive, it can’t be good either, especially the longer you stay. Normally for indoor ones, people are suppose to evacuate for hours but since this is outdoors, I’m not sure what standard protocol is, but people doing these wear masks. When I notified the hotel, at first they suggest it might be the heat and traveling that’s causing my discomfort but I was literally at Ritz Carlton Maldives right before Alila and I moved to Joali Maldives right after. At both other islands I was fine, and I don’t smell any residual odors either. No other island is dealing with the intensity of pest problem as Alila, and when they do do their pest management it’s at night time when guests are sleeping. I emailed the hotel after the trip to get refund for the two nights that we didn't stay and they said “please understand that mosquito control measures are essential for the health and well-being of our guests.” Maybe if you really care about your guests, notify guests before they even book or close the island to deal with the issue before accepting any guests. Anyways this incident made Alila lost all credibility for me. And we stayed at a water villas, I heard beach villa is even worse. The condition of our water villas is also not well kept considering they’re a new hotel. First room air conditioning was making noises room has no privacy (anyone on the beach can see the inside of your room). Second room, the bathroom balcony door doesn't lock and blind was already kind of broken, although these didn’t bother us since we don’t imagine anyone coming in through the water side but it just shows the maintenance details.

Absolutely loved our stay at this newly opened Alila/Hyatt property 4 nights (early Oct 2022). The island was a nice size, not overly large, nor small. Loved the comfortable and modern feel of the sunrise overwater villa. The only critique of the room is that albeit quite spacious, there weren’t enough shelves/cabinets to unpack our clothes in a thoughtful manner. They could definitely use better organization of the space for guests to unpack their clothes. Although we could easily call for a cart to pick us up, we usually enjoyed the 10 min walk from our villa to the main restaurant along the lush jungle walkway. Our concierge Mal was wonderful, helping us with everything from transport to booking dinner reservations. The staff all went out of their way to introduce themselves to us, and remembered us during our stay. With just 70 rooms on island, it has a nice boutique and personal feeling. As a swimmer I enjoyed the large main pool to swim laps, and we also enjoyed several dives with their dive center. If you dive with them, be sure to visit the Labyrinth, which is only a short 10 min boat ride away. Probably one of the coolest dive sites I’ve seen in Maldives so far. Oh, and all the meals were delicious too! I would definitely come back here again. (Note: I was initially concerned about mosquitos after reading a few complaints from earlier reviews. Yes I got a few bites, but nothing abnormal. This is my fifth time to Maldives and there are mosquitos almost everywhere, although some places might control them more than others. Alila makes active efforts to continuously smoke and spray the island to keep the mosquitos under control. Also, I can image that the beach based villas would have more mosquito issues than the overwater villas since their units are surrounded by plants and trees, just a suspicion since we stayed in an overwater villa)

He took us directly to the sea plane transfer, took care of our bags and documents, checked us in, took us to the club and then escorted to the front of the line for boarding. The seaplane transfer was lovely. Big thank you Faiz for your service. This was just the start of the phenomenal service. Once we arrived at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, we were greeted by 5 staff, including the hotel manager, all singing us a traditional welcome song, along with our personal host, Miss Mal. Mal was our host for the entire stay and her care, service, attention to detail and warmth was astonishing. Nothing was ever too much trouble and she was absolutely wonderful. We booked our needs including, water sports, diving etc through her via What’s App. She always responded immediately. We can’t thank you enough for your care. You are a credit to the team. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional dining experience. The hotel's restaurants showcased an impressive menu featuring a fusion of local and international cuisine whilst catering for specific dietary requirements. I’m lactose intolerant and every waiter was aware of this, and always accommodated my needs. The food was expertly prepared, bursting with flavors, and beautifully presented. The attentive staff provided excellent recommendations and made sure we had an unforgettable dining experience. They even made us a special dinner that wasn’t on the menu. Additionally, we must offer a shout out to Zaheen & Sharn our waiters who were funny, kind, caring, lovely, attentive, and overall beyond amazing service. Thank you! We stayed in a Sunset Water Villa and it was simply exquisite. Our room was tastefully decorated, spacious, and impeccably clean. The attention to detail was evident, with every amenity thoughtfully provided. The bed was incredibly comfortable and large (super king), and the luxurious bathroom offered both a deep soaking tub and a refreshing rain shower. The stunning views from our room added an extra touch of elegance and tranquility. There is a full coffee machine in the room and they decorated our bed with a Happy Honeymoon offering along with a beautiful welcome cake. The hotel's amenities were top-notch. The fitness center was well-equipped with modern exercise machines and offered a range of classes to suit various fitness preferences, which were free. The spa provided a blissful retreat, with skilled therapists who delivered rejuvenating treatments in a serene environment. The swimming pool and lounge area were perfect for relaxing. We often had lunch delivered to us pool side. The Mirus Bar staff were also amazing, they remembered our drink orders and delivered them to us, without even having to ask. We completed the ‘Back of House Tour’, which was fascinating! Highly recommend. The combination of impeccable service, luxurious accommodations, exquisite dining, and superb amenities created an unforgettable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a truly remarkable stay. Every aspect of our stay, from the warm welcome at check-in to the impeccable service throughout our time there, exceeded our expectations in every way. Their genuine warmth and hospitality truly made us feel like valued guests who were the only ones there. Honestly, don’t look any further if you are not sure where to stay. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Bloody amazing! Thank you to every single staff member, front and back of house for everything you did for us. We can’t express enough our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible memories you created for us. The experience has left an everlasting impact on our life, and we are truly thankful for each and every one of them.

We had our recent stay at the wonderful Alila Kothaifaru Maldives. The staffs are very polite and helpful. The food was just wow and if you prefer a modern contemporary interior, this resort is definitely for you. We would also like to take this chance to commend on our butler Mal. She is very helpful, proactive and efficient in fulfilling our sometimes troublesome requests. Despite being a butler to many guests at the same time, she never once lost her smile, patience and politeness. She even made sure that we have a smooth departure on our last day in Male. Such world class customer service! We are really glad to have her as our butler and I'm sure other guests feel the same way too. :) Also a very special thanks to Sanji, the aiport staff. She has been ensuring our smooth arrival and departure to and fro Male and goes all the way to help us when we needed help. Even though she looked tired during our late night departure, she nv once let us leave her sight and made sure we had a safe and smooth departure. Really kudos to her too!

We had the best time relaxing at the alila in the maldives. We stayed at the over water villa which was incredible but also had the beach villa for a day. The beach villa is amazing as well - they are both unique in their own way. We especially enjoyed the food, specifically the pastries and desserts were so much better than at any other remote resort we have stayed at (including the Park Hyatt Maldives). The island itself was just a dream and I can't wait to be back one day!

Everything was perfect and carefully thought out, we were taken great care of from arrival to departure (happening just as i am writing this review). However, the staff were clearly overworked and each personal host is taking care of way too many people, clearly more than one could handle which caused me to stress over them and think twice before asking anything. The restaurant staff seemed exhausted yet still maintained their hospitality asking with a big smile how the food was and small talking. Also, the buggies they offer are always busy they don't have enough to transfer guests. The walk is nice but sometimes its too far, hot and humid.

Property: the property itself is very beautiful, with attention to detail on villas, restaurants and bars. The design is very aesthetically pleasing and modern. Staff: they really take good care of you and chef would recommend and create items off menu for you. So be ready to be pampered Transportation: this is one the thing alila needs to improve on. We had to wait 6+ hours for a 45 min seaplane. It took us in total 10 hours to reach from one hotel to another.

Transport: This was the most hectic portion of our visit to this Alila property. The only mode of transport from the international airport is via sea planes. Our sea plane had to wait for ALL the passengers before it departed for the resort. Since we were coming from another resort, our wait at the airport was around 7 hours due to multiple delays of other passengers. Due to some miscommunication, we could also not catch the earlier flight. Communication was also lacking from both Alila and the sea plane company - TMA - which led to further frustration and exhaustion. So please keep the travel arrangements in mind when planning your trip. Arrival: The Alila staff and Jamal were understanding of our concerns and issues in our transport. To compensate for the overall shortcomings in guest experience, they gave us complimentary breakfast for our stay. Property: The property itself is small and secluded. As with any luxury resort in Maldives, the pictures on instagram are true to life! To add to it, since Alila is a relatively new property, everything is a modern and fused with nature. The drinks are amazing, and service is phenomenal like all the Alila properties I have visited! Food: The chef here caters to all dietary restrictions. My allergies were known at every restaurant and bar on the property, and they ensured i was aware of what i can and cannot eat based on that. Even during buffets they ensured I did not accidentally pick an item I was allergic to and offered to provide allergen free alternatives. The food itself was delicious.

This is a tricky review to write because we visited Alila for our honeymoon and wanted it to be extra special. We picked this resort after spending countless hours going through reviews of properties in Maldives. The resort is beautiful and has the potential to be a 10/10 but it’s sadly not there yet. We’re well travelled and have stayed at great resorts/hotels around the world so our expectations are on the higher side. Alila is a relatively new resort which comes with it’s advantages and disadvantages. The property itself is stunning. The resort is beautifully designed with a minimalistic and modern look. However when it comes to service and going the extra mile that the Maldives is known for - it’s lacking. Okay, let’s start with the positives - The minimalistic, modern design that runs through the entire resort - the rooms, the restaurants, pool, common areas. - The rooms!!! We stayed at both the sunset overwater villa and the beach sunrise villa. Personally, we preferred the beach villa. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and had a homely feel. We loved the greenery, the private pool, the amazing outdoor washroom (we weren’t fans of the mozis though!). The rooms even came equipped with lovely beach hats, a beach bag, and sun tan lotion, cooling gel etc which was a lovely touch! - The food - we liked almost all the food we had, with the exception of dinner at Umami which we thought was average. My husband is vegetarian and we were very pleasantly surprised to see plenty of vegetarian and vegan options - more than we’ve seen anywhere else. - The F&B Staff - Fakhri, Musaid, Rindi, Anand, Leslie and their colleagues always had the biggest and friendliest smiles. They were always keen to recommend food, banter with and make our experience enjoyable. - Mirus Bar and Yaki Dori. We loved both. Be sure to catch the beautiful sunsets at Mirus bar. - Saaji: welcomed us at Male airport both at arrival and departure and made the whole experience very comfortable for us. Now the not so good: - Our host / butler - this was one of the most disappointing aspects of our stay. We didn’t really feel he was a host, more like the guy we called when we needed a ride (who sometimes forgot to pick us up at an agreed time). We rarely heard from him and he wasn’t proactive in trying to personalise our experience or share critical information such as pick up time for activities or warnings about dead jelly fish on the beach (both we learnt second hand from other guests) - Hairy caterpillar problem - I don’t blame the hotel for this, it’s a new resort that is fighting nature. However, knowing they had this problem, they could’ve warned guests to be careful when walking out and about. My husband and I both walked into them (never having heard of them before) and both had severe allergic reaction that took over 10 days to heal. We spent 4 of the 7 days at Alila seriously suffering from a rash (and missed out on the opportunity of getting a massage). You could see the same sort of rash on many other guests. To think this could’ve been avoided if they’ve just communicated this to us. - Service - the lack of consistency and attention to detail. This was disappointing at all levels: from the host, to the poor house keeping, the lack of consistency in F&B. Most mornings I’d have to ask for my tea 3-4 times. - Island erosion: the land by the swimming pool is being eroded and so there isn’t much beach there and you can see fallen palm tree roots in the ocean, and 100s of sand bags which really ruins the view. Things to keep in mind when booking: - the all-inclusive: we’ve stayed at plenty of resorts with an all-inclusive option and they’ve always been just that - all inclusive! But Alila has its version - room service isn’t included, dinner is only covered at Seasalt and if you choose another venue you’ll receive a voucher of $50-$100 which won’t cover the whole meal. Even meals are limited to a certain number of courses. This is quite a misleading “all-inclusive” so be aware.

Just left the resort after a truly exceptional 5 day stay..... Cannot express how wonderful this place is - the staff is exceptional, constantly looking to anticipate and fulfill every need; the setting is magnificent, literally hard to believe you're looking at the scene even when you're looking at the scene; the rooms and public spaces are simply gorgeous in a minimalist way. Just overall... a WOW experience in all ways. We stayed in an overwater Lagoon Villa - the photos on the website do not do it justice. Minimalist decor, perfectly laid out, immaculately maintained by the great housekeeping staff. And of course the views and location are completely dream-like. The lay out of the whole resort is so nice.... and the restaurants, public spaces and main pool area are all just as wonderful. The staff takes all of this to the next level by anticipating every need and making everything so easy. So many times when vacationing at a resort there are little things that need to be done during the stay. With this staff - and with our amazing host, Nasse - these things never materialize. What's left is simply pure enjoyment - at a level we've never experienced before. All of the details of getting to/from this paradise are arranged in advanced via email with Venu, the Asst Reservations Manager. He took care of it all, including answering a LOT of questions. He was efficient and incredibly helpful - if you're going to this place, definitely use him as a resource. In short, the Alila Maldives provides a worlds-best level, once-in-a-lifetime type experience.

Where do I start? The amazing reef just a few meters from the beach, the excellent food, the superb hospitality, the fantastic villas. It is really hard to sum up all that was wonderful for us in Alila. The staff was more like family, we hugged when we left. The reef is one of the best I've seen in Maldives. The food was superb and the chef met with us repeatedly to make sure we have everything that we need. The dive center had great dive instructors and great scuba locations to take us. The villa was simply stunning. Really I can go on for a while, if you're looking to relax, enjoy the sea and sun while being pampered in a heavenly location look no further.

We stayed for 5 nights in Alila and we had a memorable stay in their newly opened property. The villas are beautifully designed, designed very much in Alila style, clean cut design, chic and modern furnishing and beautifully spaced out villas. We stayed in water villas and the villas are of great size. We have stayed in different properties in Maldives during the last 15+ yrs and this is one of the biggest size water villa we have stayed. Kudos to the design team for a brilliantly deigned property, really liked the beautiful design all throughout the property. Service at the resort was good, running smoothly and efficiently for a newly opened property with very little areas that you can fault. Our butler Sultan looked after us promptly and was responsive anytime we needed a buggy ride or for a enquiry. Restaurant staff and house cleaning staff all were a delight and congrats to the management team for having trained them thoroughly and it's showing in the service level of the staff. Breakfast spread is of great variety, pastries are warmedd up and served alacarte, which is a great touch compared to other resorts where you end up taking cold pastries from the buffet table. Apart from the wife variety at the buffet table there was a wide variety of alacarte dishes on order and everything we tried was delicious. Dinner was the area they could improve as we weren't overly impressed with the food quality, tried dinner over at the Japanese restaurant few times and the food there is very good and delicious. Wine selection at the restaurants are good with a nice variety of old world and new world wines (average price for a decent wine - $200/bottle) This place is built on a reclaimed island, hence the house reef and sealife is not much and apart from a couple of snorkelling area stretches the house reef is very limited and mostly sandy lagoon. We went for a snorkeling trip with the dive center team and couple of spots they took us close by (15 mins boat ride) were beautiful and we were lucky enough to snorkel with manta rays. Overall a great new addition in Maldives and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I'm so glad that Alila Kothaifaru is my first property in Maldives, I received the warmest welcome from Ms. Gabriela and Mr. Zahrein. Shout out to them! I stayed for 1 night in Beach Villa which is amazing, spacious, and modern. After that I moved to their Water Villa for 2 nights which is even better! Well actually both categories are great in their own way, but you're not in the Maldives if you're not staying in a water villa, right? I also love how new the property is, just opened earlier this year. The design never fails, Alila has always been my favorite when it comes to design. Sleek, simple, yet elegant. There are 2 restaurants that you can choose from; Seasalt and Umami. Another highlighted facility is The Alila Spa, should give it a try. They also have selections of activities to make your stay even more enjoyble :)

Review in English and in German below: Our holiday here at the Alila Kothaifaru was, what can I say, more beautiful than in paradise! For me it was the first time in the Maldives, my wife had already had the pleasure a few times. Although it rained a little from time to time, which didn't bother me as it was always wonderfully warm, I enjoyed each of the 10 days here very much. The service is amazing! Every member of staff is friendly and helpful. The food is a dream - the breakfast alone! The things you can eat - unbelievable! And in such a high quality. Simply a dream. The Alila is paradise. This was my best holiday ever. Thanks to the whole team, especially to Nasse, our personal caretaker. He looked after us even after we left when a small mishap happened. My wife apparently lost her mobile phone at the second security at the airport. After we landed in Vienna, our Alila supervisor immediately contacted Lost & Found (in the local language) and the next day they actually found the mobile phone and a few days later we had it back. Perfect. Thank you Nasse again for this and thank you to the whole team for this dream holiday! Was es da alles gibt - unglaublich!

I stayed at the Alila Kothaifaru Maldives for a birthday getaway and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. First of all, transportation to and from Malé was set up by the hotel and went seamlessly. They had a very friendly representative meet us at the airport, where she proceeded to escort us to the seaplane terminal. She took care of everything while we sat in the lounge and enjoyed the view with snacks and drinks. Once we arrived to the island via float plane, we we’re warmly greeted by the hotel management and staff, and introduced to our dedicated butler, Mal. Mal was extremely friendly and tended to our every need. She organized all of our activities, transported us, and handled room service orders. She also went above and beyond by hand delivering items that I left behind around the island (I’m very forgetful) Rooms: we stayed in both the beach villa and sunset water villa to get both experiences. The beach villa was breathtaking. Very modern, very private, and the outdoor bathroom is a completely unique experience. If there’s rain in the forecast for your stay, don’t fret… it adds to the ambience and it’s the perfect time to take a relaxing bath while you listen to the rain fall in the lush jungle that is literally surrounding you. The outdoor area is very private and the pool is perfect temperature and has some shade to keep you cool from the sun. And you are steps from the turquoise water if you choose to dip into the salt water. Make sure to bring a tote bag to carry all your beach gear (the hotel provides snorkel gear for free). The water villa was stunning as well. The views are outstanding from every window, and the finishes are very modern and sophisticated. The infinity pool cannot be beat. We did not leave the room once - and decided to order room service for the remainder of our stay. Dining: Sea Salt, the main restaurant was fantastic for breakfast and lunch. The service was amazing and quick, and the menu was diverse. We had something different every day. Mirus Bar was a great place to grab a specialty cocktail and relax by the pool. We also saved Yakitori bar for a Japanese inspired cocktail before my birthday dinner, accompanied by stunning views of the water in all directions. For my special birthday dinner at Umami, I was greeted with a beautiful birthday message on the table made from rice (a very special touch). The sushi and sake was amazing and very fresh. Activities: The Dhoni snorkel tour was hands down the best excursion I have ever taken on a vacation. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, as they took us to a breathtaking nearby reef, where we saw thousands of fish and several sea turtles. The pictures you find online do not do it justice, you MUST see this in person. After the snorkeling, the staff let the group dive off the roof of the boat, capping off the fun trip. We also did a cocktail mixing class at Mirus, where we learned how to make their signature aged coconut Negroni. So fun! Spa: I decided to treat myself to a spa treatment for my birthday and it did not disappoint. Mimi, my massage therapist started off by providing a 45 minute body scrub with the soothing signature recipe. This was followed by an extremely relaxing massage treatment for one hour. A great touch if you’re looking for even more relaxation. The facility is also stunning as it feels like you’re in a modern treehouse in the jungle. Staff: the full staff on this island are 5 star. Everyone is extremely friendly and says hi when they walk by. Everyone seemed to remember our dietary restrictions everywhere we went, and catered. We even received dairy-free versions of the pastries at every breakfast! The villas we’re cleaned when you left for the morning and refreshed at night while you are at dinner. Overall, this was an unbelievable experience. I will definitely be back next time I need a relaxing vacation.

My 11-year-old daughter and I visited after a fast-paced, great trip to India. The resort is sooooo lovely. The simple, clean design allowed the stars to show off: the aqua blue water, white sand beaches and lovely palm trees. Service was perfect. The breakfast was amazing. We had dumplings and Vietnamese noodle soup every morning. The highlight for us was the SCUBA diving. My daughter did her online and pool part of Jr. PADI certification before the trip. She finished here by doing 4 open water dives. Her instructor, Camille, was amazing - she had taught school before so she was encouraging and fun. We then did 2 more dives and say a huge Manta, turtles, eels, gorgeous coral and thousands of fish. In each site, we were the only boat. And the boast and equipment were the nicest I've seen, and I've been on 100s of dives. I'm a globalist and they went all out. The breakfast was top notch and we were in an over-water villa. We swam directly from our villa and read on our gorgeous deck. We loved lunches at Yakatori and splurged one night for amazing sushi at Umami. I would also recommend to join the night snorkel and solo snorkeling in their great house reef. And loved a fun game of paddle ball. I know it sounds like with the SCUBA, snorkeling and activities that we were busy, but we relaxed and read every day from our villa or the beach. The last sea plane out every day is by 2 or 3 pm - we had a midnight flight out of Male, so a long layover. I would recommend taking an earlier flight out. But the Alila had a representative meet us in Male and get a cab for us to go to rooftop restaurant in Male to kill time. They had little service touched like this the entire time. We are based in San Francisco so this is a trek to get to, but perfect combined with another visit (only hour and a half from India). I can't wait to go back!!!!

Our family had a 6night stay in December and we relished every moment of our stay. The in-house reef was a beauty and the snorkeling was an unforgettable experience. We saw baby sharks, stingrays and, just at the border of the reef, schools of beautiful fishes. The beach villa we stayed in was spacious and beautiful. We initially had concerns about mosquitos but it turned out to be a complete non-issue. Our kids had so much playing in the bath tub, both during day and night. Food was excellent. I highly recommend the Yakitori Bar for the seabreeze, izakaya style food, sunset and even the chance to meet sea turtles. At Seasalt, I recommend you to try their local Maldivian fish curries - perfect blend of spices and meats. Facilities - the kids had at a smashing good time at the kids club, while my spouse and I hung around the snooker/table tennis, pedal ball court and walking around the sandy white beach. Staff - We experienced great service from all members of the team, we could sense how proud the members are of the resort and the strong camaraderie amongst staff. We could see the passion that Thomas had for the hotel when we chanced upon Thomas during one of his island cycling+observation trip. We discussed about the effects of climate change as well as the tsunami 14 years ago. We hope we will be back soon. We had a truly enjoyable time thanks to Thomas and team. Overall we ha

My wife and I had a one of kind experience during our stay in Alila Maldives. There’s so many names to mention that made our stay memorable. I would like to start to state that Thomas Weber is by far the best General Manger i’ve encountered in all my travels all over the world. During our 7 nights stay, I’ve seen him almost everyday and positively engage with him. What an outstanding leader of the team! I am also a Bonvoy Titanium, Hilton Diamond and IHG Platinum Elite if that tells you something. We’ve been to different properties in Maldives like St Regis. Our host Yoonus truly a remarkable. He has a intiative to ensure our stay was something to remember. He made an effort to ensure smile remains in our face throughout our 8 days of stay. I would confidently say that he went above and beyond his duty to ensure we made a happy memory in Alila. Here’s few more unsung heroes of Alila. Camille was very interactive to guest and shared her knowledge about the activities in the island and her experience as a driver. Wonderful conversation with her every time we visit the water sports activities center. Suma, Ugyen, Aiman, Haameen was always great and smiling during our breakfast and dinner at Seasalt. We can’t thank them enough for all the effort they made to make our dining experience great. Justus is definitely leading the team in the right direction. He is very engage and accommodating. I can see his desire to make Alila a place to remember. We can only remember all the positive experiences with Seasalt because of the great effort made by the team. Niyaz reminds my elder uncle. He was very prompt in our needs in the overwater villa. Our room was always tidy and clean. He brought extra water when he realize he drink more than the standard two bottles. That’s attention to detail. His subtle smile brings joy to myself and my wife. We will miss him. We had a wonderful conversation with Amir and Aneel during Globalist cocktail and on our departure. Both are truly a professional on what they do. Having a great conversation with Maldivian locals is a great experience to remember. I’m glad to had a conversation with both. I really appreciate them being present on our departure. As we enjoy our drinks here in Park Hyatt Maldives we can only reminisce our wonderful experience in Alila Maldives. Please extend our appreciation and gratitude on every staff and management. We will truly recommend Alila Kothaifaru Maldives to our family and friends!

Malediven-Aufenthalt in vollen Zügen geniessen konnten.

Honestly the best trip I have had in my life. Everything was well above my expectation. Food is fresh, menu is unique, chefs are skilled, staff is friendly, weather was amazing, water was clear, rooms were clean, and best of all Arya at the Yakitori Bar was the best of all. I will recommend this resort to any person that wants to go to the maldives. Alila Resort will see me again, if not at Maldives, then in Bali. The only think I will keep in mind in the Maldives are the bats and lizards. As this resort is full of vegetation and plants, this is no way to fully control the bats and lizards. However I feel like this would be a problem at any resort. Overall will give this resort a 5/5 stars

What a lovely new property with a great staff. Our host, Alla, was very attentive and often anticipated our needs. What a great host and approach to treating your guests. My only small feedback is that I wish we could have had a better selection of the beers provided. I found that a bit clumsy for the way it was handling to get our minibar stocked the way we wanted. Ultimately, it was resolved a few days before we left. The island is small but very intimate. The staff all around was very gracious. As soon as we arrived at the airport, Reema met up with us to guide us effortlessly through the process of getting onboard the seaplane. The travel to the island is about 45 minutes if you don't make any other stops. I really appreciate they had a host at the airport to get through this process because it was a complete black box before we arrived. Understand that they can't give you plane departure times prior to the day you leave, which is a bit unnerving, especially for a planner like me, but they handled everything perfectly! Once we arrived, we were introduced to our host, Alla, who brought us directly to our villa and treated my wife to a beautiful birthday cake and sparkling wine. It was very nice of them. We tried Umami for dinner the first night and had a wonderful experience with our server, Maya, who took good care of us. A few days later, I took the sushi-making class with Nolli, who gave an excellent overview of how to make good sushi. It was a great experience. We spent one day at their beautiful spa and received a 90-minute massage and salt scrub. It was very nice. Most days, we went to Seasalt for breakfast or lunch, and Zaheen's generous smile and hospitality didn't go unnoticed. We really appreciated his attentiveness, even though it was a buffet. Paul was another server who cared for us in the evening; excellent service. Finally, Sandeep was at the Yakitori bar; he was a true bartending expert. He was able to mix drinks better than what we get at home. Very talented. I can't say enough good things about the food there, too. Lots of fresh seafood and very eclectic offerings for those from the west as well as the east. We went to a seafood buffet, and I only wish I could have brought a bigger appetite. Everything was so delicious, so I highly recommend doing that.

Alila Kothaifaru Resort in the Maldives is a tranquil getaway that seamlessly combines luxury and nature. The resort's staff provided exceptional service, taking care of all our needs during our stay. However, there was one hostess at the entrance to the breakfast area, a brunette lady named Laura, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. Additionally, her proficiency in English was lacking, leading to confusion about our villa number and difficulty in seating us at a preferred table, despite it being available. Despite this unfortunate experience, the resort's culinary journey was exceptional, with four outstanding restaurants offering a wide range of delectable dishes. We also want to express our gratitude to Harsh for assisting us with our workouts.

Our short stay with family was really great. We love Raa Atoll so much. We really enjoyed island facilities. However hostess Laura on entry to the restaurant Seasalt was rude and had a bad attitude. Made to feel like we were an inconvenience to her. Her lack of customer service gave our morning a bad start. She was quite happy chatting to other team members but was rude to not only us, but other guests. On the plus the waiter was lovely to us, unfortunately don't remember his name, he was friendly, helpful. Food was great, we love Middle Eastern cuisine, thanks to chef Bineesh so much.

The resort makes sure every detail is taken care of and the entire staff was so friendly and attentive. Special shout out to Potato, who took care of us the entire week. Highlights: - amazing snorkeling around the resort - this property is brand new and the aesthetics were on point and everything felt new and modern - great workouts with Harsh all week! - the food was surprisingly good. We were nervous about eating at the same 3-4 spots for a whole week but there was enough variety and we appreciated all the Asian options - the resort organized activities throughout the week which were all really fun! We especially liked the cocktail hour with the resort staff and the vegan cake making class - everyone gets an alila tote and hat as part of the room, which was really cute to see everyone matching walking around the resort 10/10 would come back, I only wish it wasn’t such an ordeal to get to the Maldives from the US.

A small private pool and direct access to a sandy beach. The reef off the beach is swimming distance is packed with aquatic life. We also went for a snorkelling trip and were able to see the wonders of Maldives marine life including turtles and an eel. The staff at Alila were top notch, and very friendly and helpful. Our villa butler Sultan catered to every whim and change and Sami introduced us to Maldivian cuisine. The food was way above our expectations and one of the best we had in a maldives hotel. The breakfast is especially outstanding and has a lot of variety. I booked 3 massages to the spa and had the best massages ever with the massage therapist named Jessica that was truly amazing and gave me one of the best massage I ever had in my life. Additionally, we booked 5 private morning yoga and meditation sessions with Jessica and it definitely changed our trip for the better. This was the best way to start our day and she made us feel very good in our body! So thank you so much Jessica ! Last but not least, the reef is absolutely stunning (one of the best that I have seen in a Maldives hotel) and you can see a lot of different fishes as well as turtles, eagle rays, small sharks and even baby dolphins.. I would come back to Alila Kothaifaru for these reasons without a doubt ! Looking forward to my next stay !

My wife and I have been visiting the Maldives every year and sometimes twice a year. This was our first visit to the Alila and we were literally knocked off our feet. Each resort that we have stayed at (25+ weeks of visits) has been really good but this was hands down exertional. The staff greeted you everyday (we were there for two weeks) by name and with a smile. Anything that they could do for you in the form of a request was handled immediately. We are avid snorklers and the house reef was well populated and a joy to be in the water experiencing the wonderful kaquatic sights. The very best is a visit to their pricate sand bank a seven minute boat ride to be at The Shack. An uncelievaeable stgructure on this football sized island where we ended up spending the whole day. Should absolutely not be missed. With great coral heads surrounding the island and then a 30-40 yard swim to the reef drop off. Again, like the reef around the main island great snorkeling sights. Wonderful restaurants (use the all inclusive or modified drinks plan) with great menus. Highly recommend a visit and we will for sure return.

Good snorkelling with a good variety of sea life to see. Food is great and I recommend going all inclusive. Only suggestion is to improve the breakfast buffet selection. Restaurant a la carte menus are vast and you won’t get bored. Overwater villa rooms are modern and quite big (bigger than the photos seem). Seaplane ride is 45 mins from MLE. So not too far. We arrived Alila from legendary Amanjiwo in central Java. We were expecting some kinks since Alila is a relatively new resort. To our surprise, Alila was a truly class act, just like Amanjiwo. The service was consistent, attentive and excellent throughout all aspects of the resort—whether it was our personal butler Niya, our designated housekeeper Aiham, Maya from the Yakitori bar or many more that we encountered. Dante from Seasalt even made us some finger sandwiches to go on our departure day, so we didn’t have to suffer the dismal Male airport food. This level of service, I’d normally only expect from Aman properties. We spent 4 nights in an over-water villa. The villa is modern, clean and a minimal aesthetic that we love. We would start the day snorkeling around the villa. The amount of fishes that we saw was quite impressive. Some days we would snorkel around the house reef, the area between yakitori bar and the arrival jetty. The house reef has tons of colorful fishes and corals. One morning after saying hi to all the nemos and dorys, the magical moment happened with pods of dolphins dancing not far from our deck. Seasalt and yakitori bar were our favorite. Between snorkeling and swimming, we spent most our time eating and drinking while chilling among thousands of shades of blue. Life is perfect in Alila Maldives.
