Stayed 11th Nov to 25th Nov. Beautiful island. First time there! This is an honest review!!
Positives first.
Reethi Beach is stunning!
When we arrived at Male, it was pouring down, seaplane was delayed due to the weather, but after about 20 mins, we were able to take off as weather improved and the sun arrived!
We arrived by seaplane, best experience ever. The views from the plane going to the resort were out of this world. On arrival, greeted by staff who show you to reception, given cold ginger tea and a cold face flannel. Cases taken to your room.
The staff are incredible, they are so hard working and nothing is too much trouble. Special shout outs to Ixoo and Arribba who were amazing, had drinks ready for us before we arrived at the bars, saw us coming, fantastic!!! We tipped throughout the week, 10 dollars each time.
The food is great, if you like curry then your onto a winner, even had curry for breakfast if you wanted it.
Chef was on the hot counter daily cooking all different dishes, including beautiful fresh omelette for breakfast. Fresh bread and rolls, lovely cakes for lunch and dinner. You would always find something to eat. Fresh salad grown on the island
We stayed in Room 186, big room but lighting not great, whole room including outdoor toilet and shower area needs updating for sure. Rooms cleaned daily.
Not much eveninge entertainment, movie night, karaoke was supposed to take place, never happened for both weeks we were there, a local singer/guitarist who was good.
The beach was perfect, sometimes just my husband and I on the beach! The sand is just like walking on soft icing sugar and the sea was so warm and clear. Snorkelled for the first time, you need to do this. Fish swimming around your feet, beware of the coral, your not supposed to touch it, but my leg rubbed up against it and caused a small graze. Nurse sharks, reef sharks and sting rays swim around you, unbelievable!!
At around 6pm by the jetty, the sting rays just appear looking for food, but they do not feed them anymore, they still come though, right to the waters edge, you can touch them carefully... just amazing!!!
Now Negatives firstly, smokng.. if your a non smoker, smoking is allowed in the bars. There should be designated areas just for smokers. In the evenings, surrounded by smokers puffing away, not nice at all
Lots of other people have said about this before, it really is not nice, hard to avoid anyone puffing away.
The staff all plug the Beach BBQ on a Wednesday night. We decided to go for this on our 2nd week. As the weather had been rainy the day we booked for the BBQ, the meal was held in the Reethi Grill. Lovely setting, waited on hand and foot. It cost 89 dollars each extra to the all inclusive, plus tax and plus government tax. After enjoying a fantastic buffet, the bill arrived. It was about £240!! We were not told the drinks you get, the same as in the bar in all inclusive were chargeable. £10 for half a glass of wine and £3 for bottle of water. I dont think that is right especially as the same drinks would be free in the bars, very excessive.
There were a lot of solo travellers when we stayed, goes to prove what a lovely and safe place it is, not harnessed at all, just so well looked after.
All in all a beautiful island, would i return. Yes i would!!
