Kuramathi stands out among Maldives family resorts with its dedication to providing an exciting holiday for the entire family. Relax, get comfortable, and enjoy the beautiful island: sun, sand, surf, mouth-watering food, a range of villas to suit all budgets, diverse facilities, and, of course, the welcoming and friendly service that the Maldives is known for.

You could never be bored with dining options – there are a lot. Every day they have a different theme with lots of food variations. Chefs are available to chat about the dishes offered and will answer any questions. The waiters work extremely hard and are always smiling.

The house reef of the island is perfect for snorkeling. It has easy access and you may see there quite a variety of marine life: sea turtles, black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, stingray fish, moray eels, and even an octopus.

The Spa at Kuramathi is set in the heart of the island amongst luxuriant vegetation and boasts the ocean as its backdrop. The spa treatments include sensual spa therapies with an innovative approach for your ultimate relaxation.

Located 56 km west of Malé International Airport, the island is over 1.8km long with acres of luxuriant vegetation surrounded by spectacular beaches tapering into an endless sandbank.

The ocean view was amazing and the water was warm. Shout out to Pawan Kumar who looked after us - he ironed my shirt even though I only requested an adaptor for the iron!

We stayed both in a water villa and in a beach bungalow and this is my honest impression: Kuramathi Resort offers stunning water villas with breathtaking sea views, creating a perfect ambiance for intimacy and romance, so that is why I give the 2 stars to the overall experience. However, despite the high price, the beach bungalows disappointed us, with no beach/sea view, and the garden bathrooms can be an unwelcome encounter with tarantulas, geckos, and lizards. I experienced a slip and hit myself due to humidity, but the reception's lack of empathy and unavailability of room change left a negative impression. The overall vibe suggests a prioritization of profit over client well-being, exemplified by limited water (1 liter per day) on full board, combined with constant pressure to buy drinks everywere, which by the way are very expensive. Consider alternatives if seeking a more client-centric experience.

Our escape to Kuramathi Maldives was genuinely memorable. The over-water villa was incredible. Featuring modern, fine comfort and fantastic views, it was a real gem. The sun deck provided direct access to the pristine waters below, where we could observe colorful fish, graceful turtles, rays, and even sharks. It was amazing to bask in the sun and enjoy this spectacle from our own villa. Exploring the island revealed a commitment to the environment, with lush vegetation and crystal-clear beaches. The variety of dining experiences, from Island Barbeque to Palm restaurant, showcased amazing culinary diversity. The island's facilities, including a well-equipped gym, three swimming pools, and a spa, are top-notch. The Sandbank experience was a highlight, offering a secluded spot for breathtaking sunsets and a unique perspective on the beauty of the Maldives. Kuramathi Maldives etched an unforgettable chapter in our travel diary, creating a fantastic blend of luxury and natural beauty. Amazing experience!

I was worried about heading out to such a beautiful island .. I expected kuramathi to be full of pretentious insta hungry couples, how wrong was I.. The island is so laid back floaty dresses and flip flops is all you require for fabulous island nights. During the day we don’t know where everyone went the beaches are beautifully deserted- no fighting for sun loungers! We spent our days watching the harmless black tip sharks - don’t forget your snorkel & mask. Arrival by seaplane is a must, the lounge is beautiful! Views of the different islands and atols are simply something else. Once on the island you’re welcomed with a welcome drink and a cool towel - quick chat with the rep then whisked off to our accommodation. We stayed in a beach villa (44) we were blown away by all of the little details the ‘room boy’ went out of his way to provide. The shower was a bit daunting (outside) but after the second night I didn’t care - quite liberating really! We stayed on an All Inclusive Select basis- highly recommend, we tried all of the 9 restaurants - Palm being our favourite, Not sure about the Duniye restaurant - a bit high brow for the island menu didn’t appeal to my uncultured palette- albeit the food was beautifully served by the all female servers. There’s a few bars along the island all within an easy walk but there’s always a buggy going up & down with plenty of stops. The bars have various entertainment on throughout the week - check boards at the receptions, resident band is pretty good, resident DJ was fantastic - felt sorry for him as no one got up in fung bar, maybe a few more of the fantastic cocktails and we would’ve all been up all night 😉 No downside to kuramathi other than mosquitoes at night, we found the jungle formula spray worked.

What a trip! We booked this holiday (with Kuoni) as we both have Christmas Birthdays and it was also our 10th wedding anniversary in 2023. We spent a huge amount on this holiday and I was very anxious about it living up to our expectations. I really didn't have to worry. We opted for the sea plane after many friends telling us this was in itself an experience and I agree, great start to the holiday. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was perfect. Our first three nights meals had been booked by our Kuoni Rep and our Sunset Cruise had been booked too. We were lucky enough to see so very many dolphins on our cruise, a brilliant experience. Big shout out to our reps Jane and Angelo. They kept us up to date via whatsapp, as the Island was very busy when we were there (though you would never know that). Ensuring that we book our dinners two days in advance and to do it early in the morning - we never ever had any trouble getting into the restaurant of our choice. We split our stay, we were in a Beach Villa (no. 75 for five nights) and then a Deluxe Water Villa with pool (no. 308 reef side for seven nights). We loved both rooms for different reasons in equal measure, you get to see both ends of the Island and we both loved the trees, greenery of the Beach Villa end, but we did love having our own pool/space that came with the Water Villa. The Beach Villa has a more dated feel but immaculate all the same and the Water Villa is very modern and HUGE. The Food and Drink - we opted for the Select AI which, and as so many reviews say, if you can do this then don't hesitate, the food is fantastic, we ate in every single restaurant during our stay and there just isn't a bad one. Duniye is a bit too fancy for our liking but still amazing. Our favorite for lunch was Inguru, the views sitting there were out of this world and the food is great too, also really fab for dinner and a huge shout out to Grace and the rest of the team - they made our holiday, we had Christmas Dinner there which was also my birthday and they made it really special. Island BBQ and The Palm are also fantastic. The drink selection is huge and there really is no need to go for anything that costs extra (Champagne/some high end branded drinks/wines). All the bars are great and depending on what mood you are in there is something to fit every mood, you can find out what is happening every night in each bar and the resident band move around the different bars - they are great. The resident DJ is also really good. We loved nothing more than after lunch just taking a walk around the island (burn off some of those extra calories from all the extra food and drink) and just take it all in, the beautiful island, what is swimming around in the sea, it really is breath taking. The service at this hotel is incredible, nothing was to much trouble and everyone was so friendly. If I had one thing bad to say and it is nothing to do with the Island itself, it was the guests, loud facetimes during meals/watching Tik Tok - guys you are on a wonderful holiday, put the phone down and appreciate what is around you!!! It is also very off putting for other guests. Sorry for the long review, but I read so many of these before our trip and found them really helpful. In short, we are already planning our next trip to Kuramathi - just fantastic! Thank you! :)

Spent my honeymoon at the resort and it was soooooooooo amazing. We were sick the entire time but still managed to make the best of it. The staff are soo attentive and kind - just really good people. My only issue is the no room service policy which was an issue on the days/nights we felt really sick and were still forced to leave the room to eat.

We stayed for 7 nights for our honeymoon, and had the most amazing stay! We booked through Kuoni and got an upgrade to a Superior Beach Villa, which was perfect for what we wanted. It almost had it's own little private beach area, as our neighbours never seemed to lie out on the beach. We were so pleased with our villa and loved walking out right on the sand, the water villas weren't for us. The island itself is stunningly beautiful, we loved walking around, snorkelling off shore and visiting the sandbank. The food was phenomenal! We paid to be Select All Inclusive, which I would highly recommend, as it allowed us to eat and drink at all the A la carte restaurants without worrying about cost. You book in advance as there are limited spaces in each restaurant, which makes it feel more exclusive. We ate the best steaks and scallops we have ever had. We loved the variety of different restaurants and bars across the island, which meant we could dress up and go to the more flashy bars, or have more laid back vibes at the fung or sand bars. All the staff were so amazing and friendly too! Even though it's a large island, it didn't feel busy at all, as everything is so spaced, it maintained the exclusive luxury element. There was enough for us to try new restaurants every night and not get bored during our 7 nights. We would highly recommend Kuramathi!

The staff liaison at the airport left our bags at the airport and assured us they would be put on the boat - this didn’t start the trip off well. For the price being paid for all inclusive and select there aren’t enough vegetarian or vegan options (no plant based burgers etc for kids) and the menus are very meat and fish focused. I found the staff this time around slightly less inclined to assist which is challenging as I was travelling with 2 children. The two bed beach house is a nuisance for someone with 2 kids and dangerous as there are stairs. Not very accommodating for a family of four. Kids Club was great. Not sure I would visit again with children.

We have just got home from a fantastic trip to Kuramathi which exceeded our expectations. Whilst the island is fairly large by Maldives standards, we loved our little area around the main reception/Haruge restaurant/the infinity pool and we really liked that we could go to different areas of the island to change the day up. Our two young children had lots of fun playing in both infinity pools and the buggies to get around the island were very helpful (we never had a problem getting one). We loved our private beach bungalow which was by the eco centre and was really spacious even with two travel cots. Special mention to Mumeed who cleaned our room and the staff at Haruge and Sand Bar. We booked with Kuoni and found travelling to and from the resort seamless, although the speed boat back to the airport was fairly rocky so would recommend the sea plane over it!

I am absolutely delighted to write this review for my friends' at Kuramathi, though I was initially hesitant when booking it all my doubts were laid to rest upon arrival, super-friendly, attentive and helpful staff, good food, top-notch restaurants ( a special thank you to the staff at the Island Coffee shop and the Tandoor Mahal restaurant for putting up with my eclectic requests day in and day out). Clean, wonderful beaches, blue lagoons, and magical turquoise waters, for someone who wanted to get over their writers block like me it was the perfect getaway. Their dive club rated one of the best in the Maldives lives up to its reputation, and I was fortunate enough to have my first scuba-diving experience which left me astounded, (a special thanks to my instructor Uri and his team at RDC who made me very comfortable during the whole experience, -TEAM -RDC ROCKS! ) I made wonderful friends from all over the world, and all walks of life and it was hard to say goodbye to them on the final day. Lastly , Though I rate food and drinks very strictly as a serial traveller, I will give the people at Kuramathi the benefit of doubt this time, and just say that they can level up their food game just a wee bit. Also, while booking their water villas I realised that their tariffs are a bit more economical compared to the others which of course is a good thing! I seriously hope to be back soon at this paradise called Kuramathi. Wishing you all the best of luck. God Bless.

What a scary experience. It is our second visit here, and we loved it before. The hotel forgot to put 2 of our family members on a local flight list. They didn't care that we paid for it. After a long flight, we spent hours waiting for them to fix that. Then they lied to us and said that they would try to put us in one plain; they just split our group and sent our children on separate flights. Today they invited our children for a champagne evening but not us... We have three rooms, but only two were invited. Our friends from another room should have been invited, but they were not. I called them, and they said it is what it is, this is a gift for children as they did get into a plain which appeares we as parents paid for. So we are punished and have to spend the evening alone while our kids enjoy the champagne. When we wanted to change the date for the scheduled by the hotel (without our knowledge) the sunset tour they said it was impossible. We have too many guests. We can't make any reservation to any restaurant as we are a big group - 7 people!!!! We can't pay for the upgrade as we are a big group. What a discriminating hotel. This is the first time I have experienced something like this. Don't go there if you want to have an excellent time as you never know if they have a place for you for dinner or any activity. It is a very stressful environment and discriminates against bigger families.
