South Ari Atoll follows the standard Maldives seasonal pattern. The dry northeast monsoon from November to April provides the most reliable sunshine, calmest seas and best visibility. The wet season from May to October brings occasional rain and stronger winds, lower rates and fewer guests. South Ari Atoll SAMPA (whale shark marine reserve) produces year-round whale shark encounters — this makes any time of year suitable for the whale shark excursion. The 20-minute domestic flight operates without daylight restriction, making any international arrival time workable. The resort is described by one April 2026 guest as retaining a personal feel despite its large size after 13 nights. Tip: Consider the whale shark season specifically when planning — South Ari Atoll SAMPA produces year-round encounters but the best excursion organisation is critical given the number of competing boats in the area.
