Thoddoo Beach Holiday Inn

Stayed in this nice guesthouse twice. Everything was wonderful: cosy garden, comfortable and good-equipped room and, of course, delicious food. But what is really great - staff! They are the best beople, we've ever met! Farruhad and Toif are so nice and, of course, Shajahan (or Sasha in Russina)- he is soul of this guesthouse, always ready to help! This guest is nearest to the small beach - just 3 minutes, it's sorrounded by palms and flowers. You can ask bikes and mask for snorkeling here too. We recommend Thoddoo Beach Holiday Inn to everybody, who apreciate comfort, good service and excellent food !

Stayed for 4 nights we enjoyed it felt safe and comfortable. Clean place good price. Beach few minutes walking. They try their best for your comfort. Air conditioning is available, they can arrange activities for u or a buggy driver as well.

Our family spent over two weeks at Thoddoo Beach Holiday Inn. We agreed that this was one of our overall favorite hotels in approximately 1.5 years of travel to over 30 countries. The exterior courtyard of the hotel is nice, and although the rooms are basic, they are clean, and well maintained and serviced. The full board meals were better than we expected. The hotel is family run, and it is our understanding that the meals are prepared by the family. The local food they prepared was very good and healthy. Almost all of the meals involved fish, and fresh fruit and salad were served for each lunch and dinner (fresh fruit for breakfast). Some of the food is locally grown. We normally do not eat fresh food at restaurants while travelling, but took a chance here, and are happy we did. The customer service by the live-in caretaker and family members was outstanding. There are a few small stores in town, though we had difficulty finding a good sunscreen and some other basic items (bring you own!). The hotel is on the other side of the island from the primary (and best) beach (there is a smaller beach nearby, with a strong current). However, the island is only about 1 km across, and none of the guesthouses are particularly close to the primary beach. That beach was about a 5-10 minute bike ride away for us, the island is flat, and the bikes have baskets for beach items. The hotel offered bikes, beach towels, and snorkel equipment at no charge. Although I do not particularly enjoy biking, biking around the island was one of the best parts of our stay, because the tropical farms on the island are beautiful, there are no cars, and the weather is generally nice, and not oppressively hot like other areas near the equator. The excursions offered by the hotel exceeded our expectations. The primary beach is clean and well maintained, mostly free of sharp coral, coral (white) "sand", and almost no waves (resulting in some of the clearest water we have seen at a sandy beach), and there are chairs set back into a nicely landscaped area under trees next to the beach. There are no buildings visible at the beach, and it is in a natural state. There are free outdoor showers, flush toilets, no charge for the chairs, and hammocks scattered around. The reef next to the primary beach has a colony of sea turtles (who were at the reef eating every day that we visited), and many beautiful fish who are not (yet) shy of people, probably because the island has only been significantly open to tourists for about 5-7 years. The reef is injured from being stepped on by unknowing tourists, but it appears to have several good years left. All in all, a wonderful place we will definitely return to!

The guesthouse is very nice & clean. It is surrounded by lovely small garden. The 2 brothers that run the place are very friendly and helpfull. They arranged the speedboat from Male. They picked us up from the harbour and they showed us the island. We loved the maldivian breakfast and the grilled fish that they prepared for us! Hope to come back soon! Thx.
