Shaviyani Retreat was built with the intention of being the top destination for welcoming visitors to the island of Ukulhas in the North Ari Atoll. It offers sophisticated and opulent experiences and is situated just in front of the main beach and spectacular coral reef. While the private and tranquil ambiance of the sea-view rooms guarantees a restful and pleasant stay, the wide space of the common spaces links the venue with the natural surroundings. Shaviyani collaborates with Ukulhas Scuba’s expert diving instructors and Sapore, the island’s greatest Italian restaurant, to offer amazing experiences for everyone.

Not value for the money
The rooms are spacious and clean. Location is great, very close to the beach. The boy who pickup and drop the guests to the boat is very nice and friendly. But the girl at the reception pays more attention to her phone then to the guests. There are better places on the island to stay for a cheaper price

Not good.
The place is extremely overpriced but has the same standards of the other guesthouses on the island that cost way less. Cleanliness was ok but some parts of the building and decor are worn out and falling apart: based on the pictures we were expecting a place with a better design, it felt very average and anonymous.
But the reason of scoring so low is mainly for the people working there, that made our experience negative. The manager Anfu (this is how he introduced himself to us, although no manager skills at all) that not only was always late but often looked intoxicated and off. We had to ask many times for small things that he would forget. Was more interested in engaging with his girlfriend. He was also dismissive with the two staff working there (that were lovely). I am sure that if one of them would took on the role of the “manager” they would do better for this property. One morning we politely asked him if it was possible to speak with another manager but he told us that he was the only person in charge and that the owners live in another Country and were not involved in the hotel.
Overall feeling of this guesthouse was unpleasant and if you charge more than double of similar hotels on the island the least you can do is to have a great atmosphere, clean premises and better customer service.
We came all the way from Russia to Maldives 3 times in one year and this is for sure the worse accommodation we visited.

Nice big rooms, but not really value for money
Nice big rooms, literally a stone throw from the beach. There are only 3 rooms, therefore no buffet breakfast. The common area on the ground floor is spacious and nicely decorated, but we used it only for breakfast, because you are on the beach the whole day anyways. They have no restaurant, but there is an excellent one next door in the bigger neighbouring hotel
All in all, everything was ok. Would ee come again? Most probably no, here’s why:
The Place is overpriced for what it is. There are similar guesthouses on Ukulhas for a fraction of the price. Next door is an ugly unfinished building site, which will cause a lot of noise when construction resumes.
Quite well intended but unprofessional “Management”. The beach on the whole island is public, so there is no beach section which belongs to any guesthouse, the just own the sunbeds. In trying to please their guests, after our arrival the management removed other people from their sunbeds in a very rude way to make space for us, which we don`t even requested and I felt very uncomfortable about because we had no problem taking other unused sunbeds from other guesthouses, most of the time we used another section of the beach anyways. Nobody else beside the “Manager” of our 3room-guesthouse seems to care about which guesthouse name was on the sunbeds because there where more than enough for everybody.

Wonderful
The rooms were clean and great for resting. The staff was really helpful, Anfu helped us by organizing our trips and was always available. Rafsan was really helpful and kind, always a nice company to talk to. It is infront of the main beach where the reef is truly beautiful. Absolutely recommend it to everyone.
