Question 1

How do I get from the airport to Heritance Aarah?

Accepted Answer

Heritance Aarah is located in Raa Atoll, approximately 154 km from Velana International Airport. Two transfer options are available. Option 1: a 40-minute seaplane, available from the resort's exclusive airport seaplane lounge — the lounge offers light snacks, tea, coffee, refreshing juices and even complimentary spa treatments while waiting. Option 2: a domestic flight to the nearest local airport followed by a speedboat — this removes the seaplane daylight restriction and is the recommended option for guests arriving after 14:00. Both transfers are arranged by the resort. Seaplane lounge access, including the spa treatment option, is a distinctive arrival experience specific to Heritance Aarah. Tip: Take advantage of the spa treatment available at the seaplane lounge if the departure window allows — a complimentary shoulder massage or treatment while waiting for the seaplane is a distinctively thoughtful welcome that no other Maldives resort offers at the airport stage.

Question 2

What does the Premium All-Inclusive plan include?

Accepted Answer

Heritance Aarah operates exclusively on a Premium All-Inclusive plan — no room-only, bed-and-breakfast or half-board option is available. The plan covers all meals across six restaurants, unlimited premium beverages including Taittinger Champagne for Ocean Suite guests (sparkling wine for other categories), complimentary snorkelling and diving excursions (guided snorkel trips and dive excursions are included — an unusual inclusion for an AI resort), whisky, rum and wine tastings, a complimentary IASO Medical Spa face scan and consultation, spa credit, cooking classes, cocktail masterclasses, and all resort activities. Minibar is replenished once daily in standard villas and twice daily for Ocean Suites. Two bottles of spirits chosen by are added to the villa minibar daily. A wine cellar with 16 bottles from the available list is included for Ocean Suite guests, replenished twice daily. Tip: The inclusion of guided snorkel and dive excursions within the Premium AI plan is the most financially significant differentiator from comparable AI resorts — these are typically charged separately at USD 80-150 per trip at other properties, and the inclusion means longer stays produce proportionally greater value.

Question 3

Which villas do guests most frequently single out and what is the Ocean Suite experience?

Accepted Answer

150 villas across multiple categories. Beach Villas: direct beach access, spacious verandas, lush palm surroundings — praised for the natural beach character and soft sand. Sunset Pool Beach Villas: west-facing with private pools and sunset views. Family Beach Villas: interconnecting rooms with direct beach access and family-specific amenities. Ocean Villas: overwater with glass-bottom floors for observing marine life below, private decks and direct sea access — the glass floor panels as producing continuous marine life encounters from inside the villa. Sunset Ocean Villas: west-facing overwater villas with the most-praised sunset views — recommend the sunset side over the sunrise side for evening light. Ocean Suite: the premium overwater category with dedicated adults-only restaurant and two bars, private plunge pool (17 sqm), a wine cellar with 16 bottles replenished twice daily, two-bottles-of-spirits daily minibar, Taittinger Champagne on arrival, and in-villa dining. Ocean Residence: the flagship overwater villa with private infinity lap pool (36 sqm), an extra-large sundeck and Maldivian swing. Tip: Book an Ocean Suite on the sunset side specifically — the west-facing position produces both the most dramatic evening views and the best snorkelling access, and the adults-only dining and dedicated bar service make the Ocean Suite a qualitatively different experience from the standard villa categories.

Question 4

How is the house reef and what are the practical snorkelling notes?

Accepted Answer

A house reef exists at Heritance Aarah but the access quality varies significantly by villa position and entry point. Two specific reef entry points have been noted: one near the dive centre (accessible for children and less confident swimmers, with good marine life in calmer conditions), and one near the water sports centre (further away and less accessible for beginners). The reef has experienced coral bleaching but restoration is active. Baby sharks have been observed on the house reef — a specific and memorable encounter. The best snorkelling positions are on the sunset side of the island near the Ocean Suites. Some villa positions require reef shoes to enter the water comfortably due to the coral substrate. Snorkelling and dive excursions are included in the Premium AI plan, providing guided access to better nearby reef sites beyond the house reef. Tip: Use the reef entry near the dive centre for the most comfortable and productive snorkelling — this section is more accessible, calmer and consistently productive for marine life encounters. Ask the dive team for current conditions and the specific entry timing that works best with the tide on each day of the stay.

Question 5

What dining options are available across the six restaurants?

Accepted Answer

Six restaurants and five bars serve the island. Ranba is the main international buffet restaurant with Asian and global cuisine, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ralu serves French and Italian cuisine. Ginifati is the signature beachfront seafood restaurant with private pod dining in an exclusive setting over the lagoon — praised as the most atmospheric dining venue at the resort. Ambula is the creative Sri Lankan and Maldivian fusion restaurant, consistently described as the clearest culinary highlight — unique in the Maldives. Baani is the fine dining venue. A teppanyaki restaurant completes the set. Ocean Suite guests have access to a dedicated restaurant and two exclusive bars. Food is prepared under chefs who have won the Culinary Olympics and Culinary World Cup. The premium beverage list includes Taittinger Champagne (Ocean Suites), a comprehensive wine list and daily two-bottles-of-spirits selection. Tip: Reserve Ginifati for one dinner and Ambula for another as a minimum — the private pod setting at Ginifati and the Sri Lankan fusion menu at Ambula are the two most distinctive dining experiences at the resort and are not found at any other Maldives property.

Question 6

What is the IASO Medical Spa and what makes it distinctive?

Accepted Answer

The IASO Medical Spa is the first of its kind in the Maldives, combining western medical diagnostic technology with holistic wellness treatments. A complimentary IASO face scan and wellness consultation is included in the Premium AI plan for all guests — providing skin analysis and personalised treatment recommendations at no additional cost. The spa has six overwater treatment rooms. Services include advanced aesthetic treatments, specialised weight loss programmes, medical assessments alongside traditional spa therapies including massage, facials and body treatments. Steam facilities, CrossFit, yoga, Pilates and beach fitness classes complete the wellness programme. This spa-clinic hybrid positioning, including medical consultations, is unique to Heritance Aarah in the Maldives. Tip: Schedule the complimentary IASO face scan and consultation on the first or second day of the stay — the personalised treatment recommendation it produces allows subsequent spa bookings to be tailored to specific skin or wellness goals, maximising the value of any additional paid treatments.

Question 7

What activities are included in the Premium AI plan?

Accepted Answer

Included in the plan: guided snorkel excursions and dive excursions (an unusually comprehensive inclusion), whisky, rum and wine tastings, cooking classes and cocktail masterclasses, complimentary IASO face scan and spa credit, sunset cruise, night fishing excursion. Guests staying 6 or more nights receive additional complimentary excursions including dolphin and sunrise cruises. Sports facilities included: tennis, football, padel tennis, pickleball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, pool. Gym and fitness classes (yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, beach fitness) are also complimentary. Charged activities: kite surfing (one of the most popular Raa Atoll activities available from the resort), additional spa treatments beyond the credit. Tip: Book the sunset cruise excursion early in the stay — this is complimentary for all guests under the AI plan but slots are limited. The night fishing excursion is also complimentary and provides a cultural connection to Maldivian fishing traditions. Both should be secured on arrival day.

Question 8

What is the Maldivian Village cultural experience?

Accepted Answer

The Maldivian Village is an immersive sustainability and cultural initiative on the island, inspired by the Heritance brand philosophy that tradition should be kept alive. The programme takes guests through a curated journey of Maldivian history spanning over 4,000 years — including traditional Dhivehi cuisine, ancient craft demonstrations, historical artefacts and a participatory experience in Maldivian cultural practices. The village is staffed by knowledgeable hosts who narrate the island heritage and invite guests to engage with the traditions directly. It is one of the most substantive cultural education programmes at any Maldives resort, reflecting the Aitken Spence Hotels Sri Lankan heritage tradition of cultural preservation. Tip: Visit the Maldivian Village on the second or third day of the stay — the cultural context it provides about the Maldivian heritage meaningfully enriches every subsequent resort encounter, from the food at Ambula to the traditional design elements in the villa architecture.

Question 9

What is the child policy and family offering?

Accepted Answer

Children are welcome. One or two children stay and eat free when travelling with parents on specific date windows (not valid during the festive season) — confirm the current children-free offer at booking. The Kokaa Kids Club provides supervised activities and is praised for its team, with the kids club manager Ainura named by guests as particularly warm and attentive. beach villa with interconnecting rooms and direct beach access is available. Padel tennis, pickleball and other sports are accessible for older children. The reef entry near the dive centre is the safest and most manageable reef entry for children who snorkel. Tip: Confirm the children-stay-free offer dates at booking — the offer is not valid during the festive season and applies to specific villa categories. If travel falls within the qualifying window, the saving represents a significant reduction in the total trip cost for families.

Question 10

What is the best time of year to visit?

Accepted Answer

Raa Atoll has two seasons. The dry northeast monsoon from November to April delivers the most reliable sunshine, calm seas and best visibility for snorkelling and diving. The southwest monsoon from May to October brings occasional rain and stronger winds but also the Hanifaru Bay manta ray aggregation season nearby. The Labyrinth dive site — a distinctive local feature with canyons and soft corals — and Grey Reef Shark sites 15-20 minutes away are accessible year-round. Six-night stays receive additional complimentary excursions (dolphin and sunrise cruises) regardless of season. Tip: A June or July stay combines the included dive and snorkel excursions with proximity to Hanifaru Bay manta season in Raa Atoll — the Premium AI plan dive inclusion removes one of the primary cost barriers to regular excursion participation, and the manta season adds a specific wildlife encounter that makes this timing particularly rewarding.

Question 11

What are the main pros of staying at Heritance Aarah?

Accepted Answer

First LEED Gold certified resort in the Maldives: the strongest independently verified environmental credential at any Maldives property. Premium AI plan includes guided dive and snorkel excursions: an industry-leading inclusion that produces direct cost savings for those who participate regularly. Ambula Sri Lankan-Maldivian fusion restaurant: the most distinctive cuisine offering at any Maldives resort — a unique menu found nowhere else in the country. Ginifati private pod seafood dining: an overwater dining pod for one table at a time above the lagoon — one of the most theatrical dining settings in Raa Atoll. IASO Medical Spa: the first medico-wellness spa in the Maldives, with complimentary face scan and consultation included in the AI plan. Two-bottles-of-spirits minibar daily and wine cellar for Ocean Suites: the most comprehensive AI beverage inclusion at any comparable resort. Personal butler for every guest: concierge service as a standard rather than a luxury-category feature. Maldivian Village cultural programme: a 4,000-year cultural immersion activity found at no other Maldives resort. Seaplane lounge with complimentary spa treatment: a distinctively generous airport arrival experience. Tip: The house reef at Heritance Aarah requires reef shoes at some entry points and has experienced coral bleaching — the Premium AI plan dive and snorkel excursion inclusion is specifically valuable here because it provides access to the better nearby reef sites that compensate for the limitations of the house reef itself.

Question 12

Is the resort suitable for honeymooners?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Heritance Aarah is a popular honeymoon destination. A honeymoon package for stays within 6 months of the wedding date includes USD 75 F&B credit per couple and priority suite upgrade — confirm current inclusions at booking and submit the wedding certificate copy at reservation stage. Sunset Ocean Villas and Ocean Suites are the most-requested honeymoon accommodation. Ginifati private pod dining, in-villa candlelit dinners (available for Ocean Suite guests) and couple spa treatments at the IASO Medical Spa are the most-cited romantic experiences. The included Taittinger Champagne on arrival for Ocean Suite guests and the wine cellar with 16 bottles create a distinctly luxurious villa atmosphere. Tip: Book the Sunset Ocean Villa or Ocean Suite and submit the wedding certificate at booking stage — the priority upgrade and F&B credit are activated on advance notification, and the combination of sunset orientation, Taittinger on arrival and the Ginifati pod dinner is the most praised honeymoon circuit at Heritance Aarah.

Question 13

What are the practical things to know before booking?

Accepted Answer

Heritance Aarah is Premium AI only — there is no room-only, half-board or full-board option. Reef shoes are recommended for water entry at some villa positions. The house reef quality varies by section — the dive centre entry is the most practical for children and less confident swimmers, while the best snorkelling is on the sunset side near the Ocean Suites. Children-stay-free offers are not valid during the festive season. Ocean Suite guests receive in-villa dining access, Taittinger Champagne, a wine cellar with 16 bottles replenished twice daily and two bottles of spirits daily — materially different inclusions from the standard villa categories. Tip: Confirm the exact boundary between Ocean Suite inclusions and standard villa inclusions at booking — the in-villa dining, Taittinger Champagne, wine cellar and double spirit minibar replenishment are exclusively in the Ocean Suite category, and understanding this prevents expectation mismatches for guests in other room types.

Question 14

How does Heritance Aarah compare to other Raa Atoll resorts?

Accepted Answer

Raa Atoll has a growing number of luxury resorts. Heritance Aarah distinguishes itself through five structural advantages: LEED Gold certification (the only resort in the Maldives to hold this), AI plan dive and snorkel excursion inclusions, the IASO Medical Spa (the first in the Maldives), Ambula Sri Lankan-Maldivian fusion cuisine (unique in the Maldives) and the seaplane lounge spa treatment. Compared to Emerald Faarufushi and Furaveri (also in Raa Atoll), Heritance Aarah offers more restaurants, stronger sustainability credentials, the butler service standard across all rooms and the medical spa innovation. Tip: The dive and snorkel excursion inclusion within the Premium AI plan is the most financially significant differentiator from all Raa Atoll neighbours — at resorts where these cost USD 80-150 per trip, regular excursion participation across a 7-night stay under the AI plan at Heritance Aarah produces the clearest cost advantage.
