5 Star experience from the minute we arrived, Paradise really does exist.
We have recently returned from paradise and words can not express how amazing this island is.
I have travelled to many islands throughout the Maldives over the last 20 years, however Meed (as I like to call it) is the one that I am drawn back to again, it really has stolen a piece of my heart and it feels like “home” now whenever I return.
The level of service displayed by each and every member of the Meedhupparu staff is no less than 5 start and this is for first time guest and repeaters like me, which I have witness multiple times across the island.
The Management Team lead by example and are always walking around the island and available for the guest to chat to and will also check in with guest directly to check all is ok with them.
We stayed in a standard Beach Villa for the first 12 nights, this time room 305, which is set on the Eastern tip of the island near the Albino Cocktail bar. The Villa (which is semi detached like most of the villas on the island) is slightly set back from the beach, but this gives you the option of some shade under the tree’s if you need it and is still only a few steps from to the water’s edge. We then spent an incredible last 2 nights in the Water Villas, this was my first time staying here and this really did top off the end of the holiday (it was my 55th Birthday) the food left me speechless it was amazing and everything was cooked to perfection, sitting on the outdoor decking watching the fish and rays was just beautiful and actually bought a tear to me eye, I felt truly blessed and honoured to be in such beautiful surroundings with such amazing people. This restaurant is for Water Villa guest however you can pay a supplement to eat there if in any of the other villa types and would certainly recommend this if you want something a little special, all your all-inclusive drinks are still included here it is just the A La Carte Meal you have to pay for. It is worth checking as the menu changes daily so you can ask and see so that if you decide to go you can look to potentially see what sort of offerings they will have on your preferred day.
We saw quite a few times dolphins swimming past during the day, which are easier to spot in calmer seas, and the marine life when snorkelling is amazing, and so much to see and mention. Just be careful of the current as it can be super strong time especially the undercurrent (looks super calm on the surface but can be quite strong underneath) there are life vest in each room so always good to wear one and always snorkel with a buddy never alone 😊
The best place to snorkel can vary but we liked going in off the North jetty and snorkelling round towards the Water Villas, seen Turtles, Rays and Octopus and too many fish to name.
The food in the restaurants is plentiful with lots of options and variety, the curries in the main buffet restaurant (Jaafaiy) were great and super tasty, and there was always variety of meat and fish and vegetarian dishes, at lunch they offered toasted sandwiches and burgers and lots of salad options if you wanted something quick and light. In the evening they have a themed night such as “Around the World” “Italian” and “Maldivian” the Maldivian night is where the chefs and staff all come out and dance and sign around the restaurant all with smiles on their faces.
The island also has a themed Indian restaurant (Sufura) which has again amazing curries and Chicken and fish cooked in the authentic pots.
There are also another 2 restaurants /bars, Café Mass which is the 24 our bar serves snacks such as made to order pizza, fries, burgers, paninis’ etc until 10pm (though the bar is open 24 hours for All Inc. drinks)
The Thavaa which is part of the All inclusive but needs a reservation for (open for lunch and dinner) the restaurant serves pasta, Steak, Chicken and fish, all cooked to order, they also offer payable extras here such as lobster and prawns (the prawns are insane, and huge 😊)
You are spoilt for choice with bars, with the main bar in the centre of the island by the pool (Halaboli bar) 9am until midnight and then the newly opened Sunset bar on the beach (9am until midnight) , the Pool Bar (open 9am to 7pm) and the Albino (cocktail bar) again 9am to midnight. And lastly the 24hr Café Mass Bar.
I could go on and on about this little piece of paradise, but I really think people should just experience it for themselves, that said I am more than happy to answer any questions people may have so please feel free to contact me via TA or via Facebook Messenger (Karan Harwood)
Thank you team Meed for another memorable stay, too many people to mention but special shout outs this time to Chris the current GM who clearly loves this island and has put his heart and soul into ensuring every guest has a great time and the staff are also happy, Anslam the new GM, again clearly has the guest interests at heart and will be a great new asset to the island. To Percy and all his bar staff on the island, you have such an amazing team Percy and this reflects the training and support you give them all, far too many to mention but a shout out to my “adopted son “ Hanaan, thank you keeping us entertained with your whit and humour, and more importantly thankyou for keeping our drinks topped up. To Captain in the Pool bar as always, a pleasure to meet you again my friend. Asiri, the most infectious smile and just always great to talk to, Sumit and Chata in Café Mass/Thavaa thanks for keeping the fizz topped up whilst there, Gayan in the Albino bar, even when rushed off his feet service with a smile to everyone, Lasantha Saranga, Supun, Nishan, Nishantha and Janitha all in the bars (sorry to anyone I missed this time round) To the staff in the Water Villas that looked after us so well, Aisha, Bharatt and Nuaim and our lovely Butler Naz.
And finally, to the staff in the restaurant, specifically my oldest friends in Meed, Rima Amir and Mickie and all the chefs and staff who we just don’t get to see working hard behind the scenes, including Lakshaman (please pass on my personal thanks to them all)
Keep up the excellent work, and for those looking to book, the only thing you need to be worried about is Maldivianitus, it strikes pretty quick when you are there (the need to save to book up for your return visit) so just do it 😊 You will not be disappointed.
Thank you everyone on Meed for another amazing holiday, we look forward to returning “home” in May this year to be reunited again.
